Mrs. Chesney's Datsun Only Car to Make Finals

BRADENTON - Mrs. Beverly Chesney's Datsun was the only car to make it to the final round with a co-driver aboard when she took her yound daughter along as passenger in Sunday's Co-Driver Day at De Soto Memorial Speeday.
Director of the event Stan Swartz reported that 30 cars had co-drivers throughout the day in competition held to give spectators a chance to experience the thrill of drag racing first hand. ... [In the finals] Sid Moss won Consolation Eliminator in his 1958 Oldsmobile. Moss and Beverly Chesney (with her daughter as co-driver) broke out of thier dial-ins. Moss broke out less with 15.49 off a 15.50 dial-in to Mrs. Chesney's 18.64 off an 18.80 dial-in in her Datsun 1200 sedan.

The overall bracket champion was Sarasota's John Chesney in a Datsun whose 18:86 was good enought to top Jim Carlton's Mustang I in the final heat of the runoff.
