Parts for 60-Series Transmissions are listed below. This includes 4-speeds and 5-speeds from B210 and B310 vehicles. The only non-dogleg 5-speed that Datsun used for A-series engines is the 60A (FS5W60A). The B310 dogleg 5-speed for A14/A15 is the 60L (FS5W60L).

Part Number Prefixes

The applied model part of the Part Number indicates the original use of the part. You'll find that several parts of the 60 gearboxes were originally used by the 56 gearboxes (180 parts), but that many parts are unique (H73 parts).

Parts specifically designed for the 60L use Applied Model Code H90. The 60L also uses a few H73 parts (4-speed parts) such as the main drive input shaft/gear and the bushings, bearings and spacers.

H90     designed for B310 Coupe 1400 & 1500

The 60L 5-speed is unique:

  • The design is a modified 4-speed. 5th gear is added to the front, 1st gear moved to the back. In actuality it uses only a few actual parts from the 4-speed.
  • The newer 60A is a re-designed gearbox, sharing less of the design with the 4-speed

Straight-cut Gears

Straight-cut gears are not as strong as the quiet-mesh gears, but are more efficient (use less power, so more power gets to the wheels) and most importantly takes the side-torque off the geartrain, so it's easier on the case.
