 Re: Fuel system I'm trying to figure out my fuel system, and was wondering how this one works. Is the Facet filling the surge, and the main pump then pulling from the surge?
Would the Facet actually supply enough fuel to not starve the main pump?
Looks clever, and if it works, I would probably try something similar. I suppose here the setup is upside down, otherwise my whole idea of how it works is incorrect...
Any comments from other members would be welcome.
3Rotor, what is your experience with this kind of thing, or do you simply pull feed straight from the tank and that's it...

You need 4 ports on that swirl pot if you running a fuel injected car - which I think you are, 4AGZE ne'. Pull the fuel supply TO your high pressure bosch pump from the lowest port, the supply into the swirl pot from your low pressure hi-volume (lift) pump goes into the 2nd port from bottom, the return from your fuel rail goes into 2nd port from top, and your return/overflow back to tank is your highest port. Never used one of those facet goeters as a lift pump before so not to sure if it will flow enough volume.

What would be a good lift pump? Most people tell me a 2.5 Caravelle pump would be more than enough for the high pressure supply, is this ok? I think the fuel supply side of things is the only thing about this whole project I'm not to sure about, so any suggestions will be welcome. Particularly from you, as you are also running the 4AGZE.
Just as a side note, what did you do with your oil system? Did you put any restriction in the feed to the turbo, or did you simply stack some extra washers under the pressure relieve valve? The consensus seems to be that you leave everything as is, and simply draw oil from the pressure sensor hole, and take what ever comes your way...

 Re: Fuel system Some car with a big carb system with an elec pump would be the place to look (like the holley blue pump for a V8)for a lift pump. HP side - Carravelle pump is fine for a 1600 4agze turbo until about 1,7bar boost, after that you need more volume like 2 pumps in parrallel. On my Mazda 2L16V motor bakkie I'm running a Merc 380SEC bosch pump, little bit bigger than carravelle pump,no swirl pot and max. 1,5bar boost, no prob. For the oil, just put a 1mm washer under the spring, and route a braided hose straight from the sensor point over to the turbo supply side, then back into the sump from under the turbo - sorted

I used to run a submersible inside my surge tank, that was mounted somewhere in the engine bay, and then I kept the surge-tank topped up with a low pressure pump. worked very well. and a big Plus was that it was very quiet. nowadays I just run an inline, mounted near the bottom of the fuel-tank, never had any surge problems other than when I'm almost on fumes, which is a good thing actually, will make you aim straight for the next filling station and give you enough to still make it...
