 Re: W58 Supra Box
i have a W57 box with Bill Sherwoods 4age bellhousing in the 1200 , its a bit of a tight fit with the std manual tunnel .. but after some heating & beating ,, i got it to fit .. , i aslo had to shape the lower r/h side of the firewall to give it clearance for the clutch slave cylinder .

I have a box here in the states that looks identical except that the starter and the clutch slave are on the opposite side. I have been engaging in custom bell housing construction myself, to fit it to the rear of a FWD SR20DE. Starting with your set-up looks like it would have been easier.

Plans???.... it's allready in.... I snapped the K40 I had in my ute in less than a month....

just waiting on the clutch guy to mod me my clutch plate to fit onto the spigot.
and the tail-shaft needs lengthening and the right yoke for this box.

I got some de-greaser.... the box now looks like new...

is this not the box those nice bellhousings are made for, by some place their in AU.

Bill Sherwood/Dellow? makes bellhousing adapters for these to go on 4ag engines... or are you refering to the dellow kit which mates a T50 to a A-series?

I might be thinking the T50 yes..... the T50 should go in without any mods to the body.... this one not....I also had to open up the shifter hole a bit to the back....

Dammit! Beaten me to it. I was looking into this conversion for my A-15 just last weekend. Was tossing up between this box, the steel case celica and the steel case Borg warner out of the corona. (BW is the cheap option but it is heavy & not sure how nice it is to shift.

Glad to see it will fit.

 Re: W58 Supra Box
the split case celica box is strong and light.
Getting rare now from hachi rockus.

mine was built by previous owner for a clubman and has a

2.142 from the w59 hilux and others I think the custom bit is that its from a 2nd gear or something but Im no gearbox wiz unfortunately.

and the second gear from a 1g-ge cressida 1986 or something w-series.

1.627

1x - 2.142
2x - 1.627
3x - 1.275
4x - 1
5x - .783 or .861 (cant remember now)

It will suit my 600kg final setup.

I want to build another before rwd parts go missing as they are becoming rare.

What did you use to get the transmission that clean? On the other photo's you posted...

BTW. I bought the spigot bearing for the 2.8L/3.0L 6 cylinder Toyota that came in our Cressidas, 7amgtzdtrewd something or another. It fits perfectly in the crankshaft and over the spigot shaft. Waxed...

Ok, not yet, moer'ed the first one's seal in sy moer in met 'n bytel, and had to buy another, will fit that just now, after I took the first one out, with the right tool for the job...

EDIT: degreaser, would help if I paid attention when reading the earlier posts...

need to check the ratios ,, w58`s have a different 5 th gear ratio to the w57 , do want to sell or swap the electronic speed sensor for a cable type ..

 Re: W85 Supra Box
it's a bit wide in the ass... so I had to remove the cross-member mounting pods in the tunnel... and that's it.... with those gone, it fits like a charm..... the hydraulic clutch was also a synch, nothing to it.... The master cylinder is a tight fit, but it fit's perfectly, and it lines up nicely with the pedal, just drilled a hole in the pedal for the pin and it's ready...

So I've gathered... and apparently that is the only difference between the two.... the w58 having the longer 5th.... which is cool with me, can't do the topend anyhow.....

that speedo pickup is MINE..... all MINE and you can't have it....
bin looking for something like that for a while, so when I got to the engine shop and saw this box with it still on it... the deal was sealed...

No man, this is exactly the same box as mine. Then mine must be the stronger one too... I hope... I also got that speed sensor thing with, but will be using the cable on the original Datsun speedo though. You can have the one I have if you want it.

I looked at some of the earlier pictures you posted and, I think there was a yoke hanging out of it...

I also got a piece with, and it will be mated to the datsun prop...

 Re: W85 Supra Box
its a w58 or 59 (both steel sandwhich in the centre) if you have the 59 youll be dissapointed with the crawler first gear.
What engine is it running? the welding on the bell to another bellhousing intriges me.

I have a w57 with 58 final, hardened alloy sandwhich plate and custom 1st gear for a cheap close ratio setup for my rotary.
