Gaerte, God of 4 cylinders! D 2003/4/24 2:08 Tell a friend 10867 11 0.00 (0 votes)
Gaerte midget speedway engine with slant straight inlet ports. All alloy billet chev chopped in halve which takes all the off the shelf goodies to make it rock. Some reach 350hp in NA form and thats built for torque not peak hp!!! If only nissan kept develping the A-sereis for 40 years! |

Re: Gaerte, God of 4 cylinders! when they first started running these half chevy's,someone i knew got an 1800 cc subaru motor, supercharged it & went quicker than any gaerte ever could.the only problem was it was TOO CHEAP.this was long before wrx motors & such.he then went to compact speedcar, cause he wasn't welcome in the speedcar category,& ran a blown 750cc suzuki motor.he then emigrated to canada,& left it all to rot, including a mint valiant vf pacer with blower & injection.

Re: Gaerte, God of 4 cylinders! that thing is ####in crazy, i love the fact that its made out of a solid piece of aluminium and how he explains the amount of power it has.

Re: Gaerte, God of 4 cylinders! Heres a new one that Ive found but kills for price and cubic inches using the 2.3 ford svo pinto engine you can take this four cylinder to 3 litres!! http://www.esslingeracing.com/catalog/Page_20.jpgand then use a single cam head that makes 330hp at 7300rpm on a 2.3 litre engine. So imagine the torque on a 3ltr four!!! remember 50.5mm inlet valves and 40mm exhaust!!! http://www.esslingeracing.com/catalog/Page9.jpg

Re: Gaerte, God of 4 cylinders! I know many engines today are twin cam but its good to know OHV are preferred over twin cams for speedway. If only we could get them cheap enough then we would never be struggling to find parts for our 1200 engines, with all the 40 years off the shelf bits for it and simplicity compared to rebuilding an a-series. DD do u know if pontiac or any other US company made a slant all-alloy big cube 4 cylinder for production??

Re: Gaerte, God of 4 cylinders! Yes, Pontiac made a slant-4 biggie. I even got a picture of it at the swap meet earlier this month. It must have been a dog, it was actually the Pontiac V8 (389?) missing one bank of cylinders, looked very heavy. This was in the 1963 Tempest (year before the GTO), which also had rear transaxle ... cool feature. Pontiac was the most experimental division back then, they also pioneered the OHC dry cog belt that everybody uses now. John Z. Delorian was probably the main reason why.

Re: Gaerte, God of 4 cylinders! These engines are right up there with the likes of Scat and Autocraft, but the true god of 4 cylinder horsepower is Bob Norwood (one of Dimlights neighbours), he builds everything from 1 litre Bonneville cars to 1000 cubic inch quad cam V12's for his 4 cyl check this out! Re: Gaerte, God of 4 cylinders! Someone should tell them to ditch the Integra body and fit a Datto one.

Re: Gaerte, God of 4 cylinders! holy kusso!, thats surely the one off god of 4s not available on the shelf. However The gaerte-roddeck is common practice and more convenient and powerful than its rivals scat and others due to off the shelf heads, cams, valve gear and other bits straight off the chev v8 parts bin. Its pushrod for easy rebuild and it is now the preferred engine over scat for it doesnt need 2 special heads (scat's are cut in halve and need 2 for the v4 layout) and it could probably be put in a 1200 with a nice hump to clear the injection althought the angled layout helps this not become a huge scoop. However 4 trumpets poking out of the bonnet would be horny.
