Re: 2006 UTE motor out 3 You are correct Dodgeman. It took us 30 to take to motor out. The seal went in easy but, the motor only went back in the next day as a result of a bottle of brandy and some cleaning up of the engine, engine bay and gearbox.

Re: 2006 UTE motor out 3 Strictly speaking, if you clean the engine bay before you start, & you get a reasonably early start in the morning, then you can do the whole job & be driving it again by lunchtime if there are no other complications & you have the right parts ready to go.
Datsun, the right car for today's home mechanic.

Re: 2006 UTE motor out 3 Be thankfull it's a Datsun. The engine comes out with minimal effort & the seal is easily removed & replaced as it is a one piece design fitted directly into a recess in the back of the engine. You got it easy.
In some other cars you would need to remove the oil pan, the rear main bearing cap & drop the crankshaft a little to gain access to the upper half of the seal.
  Once again, Datsun saves.
