A15 or A14? Got taken for a ride, the engine number does not match the papers which claims it to be an A15. I only found this out when I compared the VIN numbers on the car with the papers. I am now stranded untill I can find the previous owner to get a receipt for the engine in the car or else the authorities might even impound the car if I dare take it for clearance. I am trying to get an unofficial clearance of this engine number via some contacts in the metro and if it is clear and not reported stolen then I can take it for official clearance. If this engine number features anywhere on a police database then it can just as well be trown away as scarp metal! Must say I am impressed as the car performs so well it had me fooled thinking it could be an A15!
I also have a older Toyota 2T 1600 with twin webers lying in the garage and might fit it if I have no luck with the registration. My brother had this toyota 1600 in his Nova (Eagle) fiberglass car and it performed well. He replaced it with a newer 16V twincam toyota motor on VW gearbox. So perhaps I must consider using it in the GX? Even if it is not a 16V twincam I think it would make a lot more power than a stock 1400! |

Re: GX Well the mystery goes on! I asked a friend in the Metro to check it unofficially but their system has been offline for the last week! How do they provide a service like this anyway? With my luck their system will be on the day I take it for clearance and it will show as stolen, so I am going to chu ck this engine now!!

Re: GX It seems there are not many of these 1200 still around that are clean. Same thing with my car when I got it, was reported as stolen, owner got it back from metro, but never bothered to clear it. He then moved to Israel, and I bought the car from is inlaws. Just imagine the effort trying to convince them that I'm not trying o steal the car, and my disappointment when they almost wouldn't except a fax of his ID as proof that he legally sold the car to me. Through hard work I eventually got the chief something or a nother to except the all the paperwork, but not wihout them making prints of every conceiable document I had and had to get and taking down particulars of my home adress and work and stuff, to file with the registration... for incase...
Anyway just keep to it, and if you don't come right, I'll try o find out if there's someone that could help with getting the numbers checked out.

Re: GX Man thats a kak one. I had the same problem with a Uno that I piced up cheap. I however able to get an unofficial clearance from the Kroonstad SAP, just by giving them the reg number. Lucky the papers I had were outdated and the correct engine number was on there computers.
