Re: is this the future of modified cars I showed this pic of a Donk to my wife She burst out laughing and said " What the hell is that?, Thats like, Ive got no taste, look at me, look at me." She doesnt know anything about cars, that was just an honest reaction from an impartial observer.

Re: is this the future of modified cars Whilst my wife may laugh and I might think it looks silly, its someone pride and joy, and as long as they aint hurtin anyone its none of my business what car they drive or my place to pass judgment on their car.
If someone getting pleasure from this its a good thing, cruising through the suburbs in this with your mates would probably be fun, and thats why I like cars because they are fun, so I for one am now Pro the Donk, there should be more of it.

Re: is this the future of modified cars I cant say I know anything about these types of cars, but I saw on an episode of pimp my ride where they used either Chevy S10 or C10 spindles on a 70s model Impala (i think) to give it an extra 6 inches and then used the Chevy truck springs to lift it up the rest of the way. I thought it was a relitively simple way to get the car lifted 9 or 10 inches. In a way it is sort of like our datsuns, a part off one model will be a direct bolt on upgrade for another model without having to weld or grind anything.

Re: is this the future of modified cars yeah donk, box and bubble i believe its called. and i dont think it will be the future for austraila so much. its been a trend for a few years now in usa and wouldnt think australia cars are suitable for these mods. it would be cool to see a 1200 sedan on 24"s or 26"s with a massive lift kit though.

Re: is this the future of modified cars Theres no argument on the patience, skill and bull headedness of these guys to turn out these things and actually get them on the road.I know one Rod builder up here and two other guys that build Clubman cars, and some of the stories they have told me in recent years about(the newer) Gov Mit requirements has me shaking my head, but to thier credit they always seem to find a way, however one of the guys in Southport(doing Clubmans)has now cracked it,and only does them for circuit work,as the cost of compliance has made them prohibitive to road reg.

Re: is this the future of modified cars those rodeos and hiluxs i seen where of the 4wd type so they lifted it a bit then stuck those useles P.O.S wheels on it and wrecked a perfectly good 4wd so my question is is that really a lot of time and effort?

Re: is this the future of modified cars Another purple Mardi-Gras float for ladyboys. I even have my reservations for wheels bigger than 15inches for small datsuns. Anything else is for wankers who dont understand classics. This is an example of a sports car that deserves big wheels.

Re: is this the future of modified cars That picture looks like it's based on a 4WD chassis.
One of the first donks I saw was an '80s model Caddie rolling on 32s. Instead of raising it to 4WD height it had huge humps in the guards and quarters to clear the wheels, looked ####ing freaky.
I've got a pic of it somewhere. Personally it looks ####, but man it's had some serious body work done to make it work.
