is this the same ducktail gx5 in back of the best 1000 ute ever?

The difference in these two 1200's can include the white painted window frames which Dattodude tells us is a feature of the GX5 while other GX models use black window frames.
Is that a GX5 speed emblem on the grille, or just a GX one?

betcha that's the same car. these jdm 1200's have a way of reappearing in pics with slight differences over the years

the gx5 coupe was not supposed to have a white painted door frame. i will change my mind if i see PROOF!

somebody who painted that car must've thought it would look nice in white, but changed their mind (or the new owner changed his mind)

judging from the angle of the stem, i'd say they're s30 mirrors

kb10 gl mirrors have quite a bit of angle to the stems if you look at the model kit

I have always wondered if the S30 mirrors were the same as the KB10GL mirrors.
And if the B10 predates the Fairlady Z does that mean they robbed the B10 parts bin for the Z car.

When you look at the whole car, the detail & the accuracy, I would say that they are probably the correct 1200 GX mirrors.

I loved the number plate.
According to our member 2332owner, the number in Japanese, when broken down, is pronounced NI-SAN [2-3] SAN-NI [3-2] Spoken at normal speed it becomes Nisan Sanni [Sunny]
Most appropriate I thought.

The similar looking mirrors that we see on some Sunny Coupes [KB10] are in fact KB10- GL items. The GL [Grande Luxe] was the top of the range & was equiped from new with several of the items on the DeLuxe's option list, as well as several features, like the black mirrors, that were not available on anything else.
Mmmmmm KB10- GL, my favorite model.

You may very well be right [again] but I thought that with the availability [I didn't say 'easy' availability] of new genuine GX mirrors, I thought that this owner had gone the extra mile to get it right.

So there you go, they are not the same, my mistake, but it doesnt make it any clearer which ones are on that GX5.

And thanks to the extrordinary good graces of a fellow club member, those KB10- GL mirrors [yes, the ones in the picture] will be coming home to my place.

I didnt even see the buy it now, and I thought you said you didnt like guard mounted mirrors.

Some things have mellowed in the last couple of years.

I wasn't too keen on the Minilite/ Watinabee style of wheel for a very long time, but now have a set of this style of wheel for my 1200. I didn't much care for the original 1000 mirrors up front, but the picture of the grey coupe in my earlier post in this thread has sold me on these bullet style ones, & I now wish I had painted the car in this colour as I was going to before being talked out of it. It's absolutely georgous.

I even got one of those JAF badges for it too.
If possible, I will upgrade my KB10 to full GL specs & I have most of the parts already. Just some badging left to find.
The plan is to register it as a KB10-GL Sunny Coupe if I can get away with it.
