This is the engine from the B310 [Sunny] wagon that donated its diff, & was shown in the photo album on 27-Nov-04.

I bought the whole engine assembly, complete with all accessories & trans since no one else wanted it. It was paid for, & it was only when the boss was writing the engine number on the receipt that he realised it was an A15 & not an A12. Too late, a deal's a deal & he had accepted my payment. It was mine at a very affordable price.

Thanks also to Tyrie, who just happened to be there at the time & who made himself known to me. His friendly manner & inteligent conversation convince me that there is hope for us all yet. [Just send the cash to the address i gave you mate]

The engine never moved a milimeter during the whole of the 100 mile [160k] journey home which proved the value of the transport frame that i had made last year.

Oh dear, now i have another project to do, & yes, thats the heart transplant patient in the background. The reason for the transplant? So that it will have enough torque to drive the aircon that i will be installing in it.

Damn good deal Chris,
It will make the 120Y a very pleasant vehicle to drive. You cant beat that big block torque!!!!

Good to see it made it back safely. And out of interest, How much did you end up paying?

These A15's are only a paltry 300cc larger than the A12, but that represents a 25% increase in capacity & the big deal for me is the 12mm [half inch] increase in the stroke. That translates to a very usefull boost in torque, which makes the driving experience all the more pleasant, as Feral has quite rightly noted..
This engine will remain pretty much dead stock, but being a passenger car engine, my theory says that it should be more suited to passenger car use than a stock van engine.

As a side issue, i consulted my owners manuals for weight figures. [Power figures are conspicuously absent from Datsun literature]
The Stock 1974 Datsun 120Y four door, manual sedan weighs 775 Kg, while the 1980 /'81 Sunny Sports Wagon weighs 900 Kg, so the 125 Kg [275 Lb] reduction in curb weight that the A15 will see should translate to a performance improvement all by itself. WooHoo
[P.S. KB10's, the heavyweight in the B10 family, come in at 675 Kg.... na-na na na-na. ]

Price? Well,.... lets just say that i paid less than i was prepared to pay,... & more than i would have liked to. It was an acceptable figure.
