looks to be a more safety in a roll-over type cage than a structural rigidity one.

its a bolt in cage, for those of us who don't have the couple of grand to spend on a full weld in bond cams approved roll cage. CA18DETman used to run an alloy one similar to this. they are much lighter than the steel ones obviously.

CAMS used to approve alloy ones, and if the cage has been logbooked in a car the will allow it, just not allowing any new ones. i have no idea of this ones CAMS history, it came out of 1200 coupe that had a L20 stroked to 2.4l with two big bad webers.

just to clarify, CAMS will allow a log booked car to continue to run an existing alloy cage if it was log booked in that condition. But you cannot put an alloy cage in a competition car now.

the front of the cage is to the left of the photo, sort of looking at it from the rear. i also have the brackets to hold the bar that runs accross the windscreen.

So i guess you weld it all in place once it's in the car? or do all of these bits just bolt together? that doesn't seem too safe if that is the case? just my thoughts will be happy to be proved wrong.
