 Re: New Axels
This is for your wife's stock 1000 sedan, .... right?

OK, sillyness over & I don't even want to think of what these cost, but then again, if they simply do not break, then the price of reliability is a bargain, since a DNF resulting from broken parts is always a cost impost, even if simply restoring the damage back to the previous [unreliable] state.

I notice that the shaft is parallel & has four steps to reduce the bearing size down to the spline size. Is this done for any particular reason, or is it simply a production expediency? For some funny reason I had thought it would be tapered.
Was the spline cold rolled, hot rolled, or machined?

What's the method of driving the flange? Is it spline, square drive, Morse taper & key, other?

Lets all hope that these are just the ticket & that you get out there & give those non-Datsun unbelievers hell.

 Re: New Axels
Exactly i was just sick of braking axels. Normally it would cost about $2200 to get these made up. but instead of getting the axel and wheel hub made. I used wheel hubs from a Nissan Pintara 91 model, they are large front wheel drive hubs. so the whole setup only cost $1100

I think the steps where there to make it easer to make.

He uses EN25 steel (mining company's use it for there drive axels). Then machines the splines on both ends, sends it away to get induction hardened then heat tempered. finally it get straightened and the final finish is put on the bearing surface.

Here is a pic of them just before fitment.

Thanks for the info, & yes, I am impressed. The use of existing drive flanges was a smart & cost effective move.
With those bearings, the whole thing looks like it should be rated for a heavy duty 3 ton truck.

I wish you well.
