Re: 2L L18 in and running estimate of power was 100rwhp in 40 degree weather on a tuning dyno....about as rough as it gets
stock parts that i can see in the engine bay would be the little electrical doover on the drivers side strut tower and.....the body

Re: 2L L18 in and running good to see! I really have a soft spot for L powered 1200's. hopefuly my 120Y will have an L20 sitting in its engine bay in a few weeks time.
it's strange combo of crank/rods/pistons. L16 rods are very short compared to L20B rods, but it should be very torquey! and that cam should really have lots of grunt from 2000rpm onwards. If you have to wait for it to 'come-on', the cam timing's probably a bit retarded.

Re: 2L L18 in and running yeah i was thinking about the we they have stroked it...i was thinking it would have made more sence to use L18 rods as L16 are longer...so with longer rods and longer stroke the piston would be well and truely out of the L18 block(as i dont think the pin height would change enough to compensate) but thats the way it is and it seems to work so i'll only start complaining if something breaks and isnt what its meant to be
cam doesnt come on till 3500rpm and ive been told to only rev it to 6500 would be good if the cam came on a bit earlier as then it would make up for the crappy gearing

Re: 2L L18 in and running Hey Pigdog well done mate!!.... looks really good and bet it sounds good. Hows it handle?? I think you should move the coil, cause if you get blow back or back fire or something could put some fuel on the coil. doubt it would happen but

theres a prize for whoever can point out the most non stock parts in this pic You are going to need to clearly define 'stock' as it applies in this instance. You might say, ... if it doesn't have a Datsun 1200 part number, then it's not stock & the whole engine, radiator & other stuff is then non stock. Alternately, you might say that if it doesn't have a Datsun/Nissan part number of any kind, then it's not stock & that changes everything. So what are the rules here? Oh yeah, will anyone actually want the prize? [whatever it might be]

Re: 2L L18 in and running May i sugest from experiance, please move your coil away from the air filter! Why u ask, good old webbers splash fuel in to air filter socks, and if u get a stray spark out of the coil lead BANG! Those filters are like jiffy fire lighters, not good. i lost a 180B this way. As for the rest i like it lots!
About the comment D made has any one done the KA24 head conversion yet? If not I know who has done the 16 valve head on a 2400 stroker. yes it can be done.ask if u want to know more.
