It's still a possibility. The cost of the paint, puts a big dent into the funds, but I expected close to what I'm paying for it. I've still got to sort out the funds for the engine computer, interior and flywheel/clutch. I can do without an interior for a little while, and I could put the stocker clutch back in, but I think that is a bad idea.

I'll know more in a few weeks, what kind of funds I still have available for finishing the car in time for the nats.

I expect the paint to last another 30 years (garaged) so sure, it's a bare metal respray Being a Datsun owner is a longterm plan for me.

are you going to put a cage in it? if so you might want to put it in before you get it painted, that way they can paint for you. it will be alot neater and save you an arsehole of a job, i know this because i just did mine. they could also colour code it.

It's not going to be raced hard. I probably should put a cage in. But it's mostly going to be a street car, so I don't want to have to get caught up in the cage while I'm getting in or out. Because it's a 4 door, putting in a cage limits access into the back seats, and the ability to put in adjustable front seats.

Thanks for the pointer though. It's a pretty solid example, with no structural rust. So it's just a matter of not rolling it while going hard around corners. If it starts seeing major track time, then putting a cage in will be considered.

OK. Got the heater working a weekend ago.Cahnged the core and then realised after all that it was the heater cable that was stuffed.
I invented several new yoga psositions while getting the core in and out though... So I feel more limber...

Apart from that. Not very much.
I need money and a decent job. And for canberra to not be so cold so I can do stuff and not freeze...

It'll be a metalflake/pearl green. I've decided to use the House of Kolor additives called "ice"..No not the drugs that are shipped with rice noodles. They are in fact little coloured glass chips that are added to one of the clear coats. I've gone for "green ice", which will give a glimmery 'hammered' effect to the paint, that sows up on certain angles. The green ice is a darker green colour. I'll have a base paint coat of a light golden green metalflake. Which will be a Nissan colour of course.

So it'll look pretty cool. It won't be the same green as my brothers 1600, but it'll look good next to his car, which is quite an achievement.

Surely you've seen my brothers 1600 nsw rego SX-510. He's been in Fast Fours. He was also on the Fast Fours video. If you have a really good memory, his first car was in "readers rides section" of FFR in about Issue 3 or 4, that was the 2.4L version.

The "Hothouse Green" Monaro colour was going to be my choice of colour. But I changed my mind, and have thought of going for a modified Nissan colour..a bit like the rest of the car.

I reckon go for it. It's light enough that it'll suit a 1200. I used to think dark colours didn't suit the 1200. But after seeing the black 1200 2 door from portugal, I'm not sure this is always true anymore. The main thing is that if you go a dark colour, the car MUST be straight.

Yeah, I know that car. Was one of my favourites, when I first started doing my 1600, I just didn't realise that it was your brother's.

I actually think the dark purple on my ute suits it, thats why I'm worried that I won't like it if I change the colour.
