 Re: Z24 Oil Pan Sump Just finished doing this with an A15 sump.
To check for leaks you can also cover the external welds with a light coat of plaster of paris, then fill the sump with diesel, any leaks will show up as discolouration of the plaster.

Re: Z24 Oil Pan Sump The sump is bolted to an engine, before being welded back up. So warping is not a problem if careful welding is done.

Re: Z24 Oil Pan Sump That is right. I pieced it together screwed to the board. Welded it, then had to cut it again from side to side. Bolted it to the block and weld it back up. I used a light in total darkness to patch up the pin holes. A lot a welding!
