You shouldnt care less if the engine went up and down or round. Its purpose built and looks quite nice for its purpose. A lot of us prefer nissan did release the rotor but Mazda did and still tries the unconventional.
Before I went 13b in my old r100 a mild ported 10a outpaced my friends xy v8 on the freeway and on the street much to his disgust.
This owner chose the unconventional. 1200 utes arent rare cars and with south africa keeping it alive it doesnt hurt for someone to have their dream car in this more than tasteful guise.

This thing looks awesome......but I would prefer to see an up and down engine instead of the round and round one.

This is my mates ute that i was telling you all about remember the pics of the red one in south Aus with the ford motor in it and i said my mate bought it this is it know.

By the way this ute is fully street legal and fully engineered, the tubs the roll gage all engineered drives this thing on the street no problems.

I hate when racers like you say this sh*t jump behind the wheel of this car which will be making around 450+hp and try and drive it in a straight line then come back and tell me how "easy" it was.

So... it won't turn worth a sh*t... AND it won't go straight either?

Personally, I love it. It looks really mean. But if it was mine, I'd have to have two; One for drag, one for the twisties...

 Re: 1200 ute (perfection)
ive got the article in a magazine of this ute's first build... by the previous owner when it was built up and painted red with a ford 2.0 motor in it...

this ute had every single panel replaced... including the roof!!!

and suprisingly.. the ford escort 2.0 run 11 second quarters.. no turbo either

impressive
