Damn I missed that?! San Antonio Raceway (don't know if it's still called River City Raceway) is one o' my tracks! I'll put money on saying that my 1200 was the last Datsun 1200 to leave tracks there before that guy ran. Last time I raced it there was just a short 6 months ago! I'm mad I couldn't see him run, I tried the year before but missed it then as well. I'd wish I could've lined up next to him....two 1200's goin down the track... You always see or hear a little about these drag 1200's in import magazines, but I have yet to see one in person. That one is rotary powered isn't it? When I return from the Orient, my 1200 will look better than all those trailer queens, may not be as fast, but will at least be Nissan powered and running sub 13 seconds quater miles!

I see one almost evey time I go to a big event here in Texas. There are at least 3 in the Texas area that I've seen compete, plus numerous guys that compete on a national level. This guy here was in almost every race of the 2003 season.

And he won more than a few

This guy is at alot of the events in and around Texas too.



The guy who drives it is paralyzed from the waist down. Inside there are hand controls for everything

i dont understand why people dont set their wheelie bars alot lower so the car cant wheelstand much or at all, or is there reason against doing this maybe someone can help me out??????

It's probably somewhere near the right angle now.

The driver can still see over the hood, yet the car is pretty much sitting on it's haunches, or in this case, it's back wheels. This transfers the MAXIMUM amount of weight onto the tyres, ergo, tyres have as much traction as they are ever going to get.
The more traction it has, the more power you can feed it without tyre slip, or wheelspin. The more power you can give it, the quicker it goes. It's all a matter of balance, both literal & metaphoric.

In top fuel, the "G" forces are so high that professional drivers are starting to suffer from detached retina's

I have riden in an 11 second street car, & that was awesome, but 5 second cars must be indescribeable

If you watch this car in person, it's really not up on it's wheelie bars for more than a half second. It's not riding half the track in the air.

As stated, it does help with weight transfer, but it's also done to absorb some of the initial shock of the hard launch. Lowering the bar (thus lowering the wheelstand) is more likely to break the rear diff when launching.

Is that why you stood me up at the swap meet? Did you go to San Antonio without me?

What's wrong with the rear tire? Looks like it has wrinkles in it. I think 1200s aren't meant to do this.

i think tats because its a soft wall tyre so that when the clutch is dumped the tyre soaks up some power bites in and doesnt wheelspin

Oh, yes. Wrinkle-wall drag tires. Does this void the factory warranty?
