Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 So as far as I have understood correctly, situation is something like this (correct if I'm wrong): - 140Z/160Z models (B210 with L-series engine) were made in South Africa. - 140Z (and 160Z?) was South Africa model only, and weren't exported anywhere else. - Corresponding Japan model was Sunny Excellent, also with L14/L16 - Corresponding USA model was B210 with A14 engine (and L14 engine?) Here in Finland, B210 (120Y) was imported only with A12 engine (2D coupe & 2D/4D sedan). I have B210 with L18 engine (swapped by myself) and it wouldn't be possible without "special permission" from inspection office because in normal engine swap cylinder capacity can be enlarged only 25% from original (in Finland). In A12 it is 1171 cm2 -> max capacity is 1463 cm2. Anyway, if this model (or its "paraller model") is exported to other EU country / North America with larger engine, that can be also be used. Problem is that I should have some kind of official document with all technical data from this kind of vehicle. Hopefully you all understood what I tried to explain, my English isn't perfect.. My car: Datsun 120Y

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 Hi! I jus found this forum and immediately found something interesting - Sunny Excellent with L16..
Does anybody have technical data about this model (factory datasheet/etc. "official" material)? Also, which countries this model was exported?
Thanks!

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 The L16 version didn't get very far I think.
L14 versions made it further..i.e. 140Z in South Africa.
There's plenty of interesting things here...most of them human.

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 ZA 140ZSome Datsun ZA exec must've really pined for the Sunny Excellent, otherwise why would any sane, bean counting administrator push for 306 long nose B210 Coupes to be made? If you like this topic, you need to read this bungling thread at classiczcars.com. Josh: did Jaime ever get his tail lights & panel?

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 Why is it so dificult to get that tail light assembly? I've tried for years, same as the bumpers, and I always get "the wall" treatment, it is as if Nissan considers this model a secret or something. Why is it that this assembly is so unaccesible? I assume, back when the B210/120Y came out, in the same way today car kits come out in the market, and using to advantage the fact that Nissan sold the B210/120Y with the less atractive tailights,a kit to convert the B210/120Y to a Sunny Excelent look would had made a fortune, who would not had done it?, it looks like a total different car, and it only amounts to the tailight assembly(look wise, not talking about the obvious engine diference.) Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 That was a good find and at 15000 yen or 200 australian its not too bad but would be better with lights as well for a bit more. The bumpers are the same as in australia but that tailight assembly would be great to get a hold of and I can get fibreglass copies made up for quite cheap then maybe some aftermarket round lights can be adapted. Id love to see a worked version of one of these babies with flares and Lz head. There is one 120y in australia with I think is a ca18t that does 11.6 and not setup for drags but circuit racing!! Anyone know the car that was the only non rotary to perform so well at the last winton club endurance??

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 An older fella had the light panel and the lights for sale at the Shasta swap meet in 1999..This was the first time I'd heard of the Excellents. He had a Datsun History book, filled with pictures in Black and White. It wasn't for sale, but it would be awesome to have. It was about 300pages in A5 size.

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 Yes Sidedraught... that is the mystery part.....I no longer try to get anything "excelent" or"140Z ish"... you see...it is like a vision....I see it...the more I move towards is...the faster it dissappear... Dodgeman......I remember talking to that guy. I have the info somewhere, he installed an L18 in his 120Y. Very cool guy, glad to share his experience. I wonder if he is still around . I sent him a message. Wonder if that guy in Northern Cal ever did something with all those parts... according to Matt he was looking to convert a B210 to Sunny Excelent.....interesting project if it ever materialized. If I make a mistake, I figure sooner or later someone will come along and correct any mistakes. IMO thats why wiki is crap, too much false garbage from people who dont know what they're talking about. (Not referring to datsun1200 wiki, I havnt looked at it, but rather wiki in general)

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 Good point. If it is hearsay or opinion, please state that like: "Rumour has it that Libya has Sunny Excellents" or "I've heard that you don't need to ever change your oil". This can lead into the opportunity for someone to come along and add a response "Though some people say you don't need to ever change your oil, the 1972 Datsun 1200 owners manual recommendeds changing it every x miles"

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 Hy. Too bad I do not know japanesse. I will try asking a friend to see if he can read and find out. Fiberglass copies, I think that would be a good idea, it is a flat panel with openings, probably the 3 lenses hold on to the body, and this panel holds on to the 3 lights assembly.I tried reaching Nissan of Japan inquiering about the panel and lights, but they do not respond, either they do not speak/write/read english at all, or they just do not give a crap!.I tried South Africa too, they ignore me as if I was talking about UFO's. Well, I tried. Jaime.____________________________

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 Hy, I just missed this topic, it did not show in the home page, what is the price in US dollars? If I buy it, would you get it for me and ship it 2223? If available, I would like to do that, I will check the DGOZ how to tip. Thanks, hopefully it will still be there. Jaime.________________________ Hy. It says 15000yen, the 1200 datsun article says 8000 yen to a dollar, then it says, 2000 yen is 16 dollars, how come? if 8000 = one dollar, 1/4 of 8000 which is 2000 should be .25cents, right? 16 dollars would be 16X 8000=128.000yen. I think something is wrong, anyways, how much is 15000yen? Thanks for the help, I think the article in 1200 Datsun about the conversion is wrong, or else the part in question would be less than 2 dollars(8000X2=16000). See ya. __________________________________

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 It would be roughly $130 US. Right now the exchange rate is 117 Yen to the Dollar, which changes daily at 3PM our time. Shipping wouldn't be a problem. Don't know what you'd do for brake light lenses though.

Re: Sunny Excellent 1600 Hy . Dgonz, no problemo, mistakes happen. 2332Owner, about the lenses, light assembly, if I have the panel, at least it is a begining, the lense assembly might come around later, chances of finding all of it at once is not that great. I never bought anything from Ebay, I do not know how it works, if it can be bought for 130bucks, I can do that, how would it work, would I have to send you the 130 via bank? deposit it in your account?, let me know. I hope it can be done.If not, we tried and I appreciate it. With that panel, even without ever getting those lenses...(I should not be pesimistic, I think I will, but worse case)... I can look for some round lights that will work size wise. It is a beginning. Matt, tell Steve E that there is another hard core Datsun fan making/cooking a freinkenstein B210/Excelent monster in US. Thanks. Jaime.___________________
