The guy that had it before had it fireing 1-2-3-4 instead of 1-2-4-3 so i was driving it on 2 cylinders, no wonder it sounded like a lawnmower. I like this car but I would rather have a coupe...

Don't you mean that it should have been 1-3-4-2 in firing order?

Is this the sedan that was mentioned for sale in Deauville, Quebec? By the way very nice score! How much does 225CAD = in USD?

SLAM1024 is in Lethbridge, Alberta Canada (close to Montana, USA).

I always figure the Canada dollar at about $.75 USD though of course it varies over time ... 225 CAD is 167 USD today per Universal Currency Converter

SLAM -- looks like you got a fair deal. Though they are hard to find, when it needs paint and doesn't run correctly, a 1200 isn't worth a large amount. Yours looks like it has definite potential.

 Re: My 1200 Engine
yeah thanks dd

It is actually roadworthy as we speak.

I spent a few hours stripping it totally out, then I replaced the Dizzy cap and rotor arm, got it firing in the right order and that was the engine done.

The only other problem that I came across was the front seatbelts. They were pretty much wasted and then I finished them off by trying to remove them from the car doing so they exploded on me and the coils popped out.

I got new seat belts for $50 CAD out of a Mazda pick up and installed them, needed for me to drill some extra holes for the bolts but its all good now.

the only thing left to do in the very near future is to fill in the "go faster air holes" that I have in the drivers floor pan where it meets the sill.

Then I can get busy on my truck

 Re: My 1200 Engine
heh... none!

I found at least 100 used scratch cards, socks, a whole bunch of oily spare parts...
layer after layer of household carpet

Turns out that the hole in the floor obviously let the water in so the carpet rotted. Instead of taking the rug out and fixing the hole they put another carpet down, and it rotted so the put down another and another... there were about 5 layers!

heh, wow some people!

I love finding wacky old owner stuff in cars...
pens, money, tools, spare bits...
Someone found the newspaper from the day the car was bought in there car. The old dude who owned it before them put it under the spare wheel so that it wouldn't scratch the paint...
"Oh look at that... I hope that vietnam war ends soon..."
