Re: Watanabe rims styles nice pic!
F8A should actually be labled simply as type A or B, because it has short spokes
short-spoke types A and B are popular on older cars, because they have the widest selection of diameters, widths and offsets
long-spoke type F8 are popular on newer cars, as the design allows for extreme + offsets

Re: Watanabe rims styles re Matbighat,
Yeah, from what I have been reading and searching , F8A has the square inner lip and short spokes where F8B have longer spokes, both are available in rwd offset, where F8F also has the longer spokes but is available in FWD offsets as the spokes are slightly cuved to allow room for the +40's offsets.
But if you download the Watanabe pdf from the site if has very poor pictures and uses the same pictures for F8A & F8B, but rims with the longer spokes and rwd offset appear to have F8B in the castings, well that is what I have worked out from the yahoo auctions. Then these is also rounded and square outer lip also polished and un polished lip so really these is about 12 different combinations of the cast units. Then the 3 piece models are also available.
As I had not seen a comparision of the rims I thought I would put together a basic comparision, I can expand it if you like including the polished lips and out rims styles so that it could be added to the wiki site. I have kept to 14x6 so that they are all simular but once you include the different sizes it gets quite confusing.
Probably the best thing for anybody looking to purchase watanabe's is to choose your rim size and offset via the PDF catalog on their site, then search yahoo.co.jp auctions in your rim size for pictures of your rim size then you you can see the different models and options and choose the on you like best then start hunting.
cheers

Re: Watanabe rims styles hmm, i've never seen type a or type b short spoke labled f8
i've spoken with the watanabe usa distributor and discovered that type a and type b are both short spoke but differ in offset availability
i've also seen type r, or at least what somebody called type r
when you say 3 piece, do you mean the rs8 with the spun lip made by ssr?
i always thought those were 2 piece
if that wasn't confusing enough, there's also early type wheels that have been discontinued, and some of them fetch high prices on auction
i have a set of old style. they're pretty wide, so i'll have to have to mod the car for them to fit

Re: Watanabe rims styles Yeah this list seems to go on and on, you are right there is a type R this is for width's of 8 inches or more with short spokes and a angled inner lip. Also the A/B appears to be for for rims up to 14 inches after that they change castings to a F8 with smooth inner lip and longer spokes and RWD offset, or a F8F with FWD offsets.
3 Piece yes you are probably correct I have not been interested them.
cheers
