If you need to install 30mm spacers, then stretch a 185 tyre over a 8" wide [or wider] rim, [which is quite illegal] just to get them under the car, then you clearly have the wrong rims.

The design width for a 185 tyre is 5" & it is legal on rim widths between 5" to 6-1/2" unless it is 60 series profile or below in which case a 7" rim is legal, & these are on 8" [or wider] rims.

Ever wonder WHY it's llegal?

dodgeman u can well and truely rest easy as im 100% aware that they are not legal and i would never use it like this on a public rd. i only did it just because its something different and it didnt cost me anything to do.

i just measured the rims up there 6" inners and 3" outers to the bead so at a rough measure there around +40 offset. the rims where made for a trx bluebird.

well they had way too much and ive had to use 30mm bolt on spacers just to clear the leafs.

the funny thing is the fronts are 15x7s and im running 195/45s on them so my front wheels are running wider tyres

 Re: strech and poke...
where are you measuring from?

if the overall width is 9 inches then theyre actually 8's.

im only asking becuase i run 6.5's on the rear of my ute and thats the widest i could go (without hanging out the guards)

i would expect a 9 inch rim to hang out a bit more than that

Mine are 14's. The vomit wasn't towards the mags, just the tyre stretch. You wouldn't want to touch park, thats for sure.

 Re: stretch and poke...
must be a pretty average offset. A have a pair of 13x7.5 -14 steelies that sit out the rear of my wagon about as much or even more than those 9's...
