Shot of the actual reverse eye leafs...as you can see I had to use the same clamps on the leafs just had to belt them upside down to hold the leafs together...

god that's rough. What were you thinking with those bottom couple of leaves? I can't believe you posted a pic of this!

It's obviously hitting the bump stops if it's not already resting on them. This will be a dangerous car in the wet, but then again the horrendous understeer induced by the 12' front pizzacutters might balance it out. Nice engineering!

Bite the bullet and take it somewhere to get it done properly with revered eyes and reset leaves. It might cost you a few hundred dollars, but it also might save your life.

Give Fulcrum at Moorooka a call.

WHY120Y, it says "reverse eye" ... we can see that the bottom three leaves are turned over. Is the mainspring eye (mounting point) reversed as well?

it is rough coz this photo was taken be4 it was all finished... I welded on extra clamps on both sides as in the picture one side is not clamped together....dangerous car in the wet??? it is more predictable then a slut on the corner of brunswick........it's not hitting bum stops either...and soon to be replaced by stanza sruts

 Re: WHY120Y
did you seriously say that's not hitting it's bump stops?

no suspension travel, 155*12's at the front and 205*15s at the rear do not add up to predictable handling. When you're suspension bottoms out your spring rate immediately increases to an infinite level and if that happens while you are cornering you will suddenly loose grip on that end of the car. With both ends of the car bottoming out at the slightest mention of a bump, your car cannot hope to be predictable. Wait till this happens to you in low grip conditions. The only thing you can predict about this car is that it will be a skatey as a dog on lino

and with no effective shock absorption, your tyres can and will lose contact with the road (especially on QLD roads) and that is obviously not a good thing either.

the analogy to the Brunswick St hooker is a good one - this is f***ed, and it could kill you - maybe not today but it will catch up with you soon enough

you like to argue ... don't ya ... I never said it was perfect or close to it or anyway... it did the job when the stanza struts go in front will be heigher and stiffer with suspension travel as I wont go mental on the grinder... and as 4 da back I might put an extra leaf across to bring it up a bit.. as I do like the height as it is........... or is there any other way to make this more safe..

I would have to assume one of your "mates" told you how to do this...as has already been said what you have done to your rear leaves is dangerous. The spring needs the bow the other way to absorb the travel, reversing the leaves cuts the effective rate of the springs by 1/2. Suspension is not something to be played around with by amateurs. You can put what ever you like in the front of your car but it won't make these modifications safe. Suspension modification requires experience not experiments !!!!!!!!!!!! Put it back stock and save to get it done right.

everyone seems to be saying it quite harsh

but...

i think you have made a mistake in the logic behind this and you should take the comments above seriously

they arn't against you or anything they are actually concerned for you and your car

we like your car, it looks good, dont make a mistake and stack it!

Dude!!

They're the worst looking rear springs I've ever seen. You guys must have some good smoko up your way...You were obviously smoking plenty before you started that! I'm still shivering with terror.

As soon as you get some power in that car, you are going to have some ugly tramp dents. Bags not sitting in the back seat!

Reverse Eye means that..They heat up, then reset the longest spring the other way, then they heat treat it, so that it still acts like a spring. Some people then switch one of the spring leaves for a slightly thicker one to stiffen the spring rate, to keep you off the bump stops.

I am scared for the cats in your area..imagine getting poleaxed by one of those downturned springs...On the brighter side...It'll stop you getting cat blood sprayed over your rear quarter panel.

Chris

no offence, but lowering blocks are safer than that. one pothole and you're looking at snapped springs.

WTF????
let us know when you get it fixed so if we see you coming on the road we don't have to pull over at let you pass. I'm not worried bout you stacking your car or any of that, I'm worried about that kid you will sideswipe because you just broke a rear spring and lost control while going around that famous whore corner.
