Attn: David (ddgonzal). I built it just for the rally car.  Probably wont fit any other car (except my mates Suzuki Sierra).  Need to do some mods still, has a bit if flex in the rear so I am gonna add in some more frame work.  Saved a packed building it myself.

 Re: Custom 1200 Trailer
I just registered my car trailer today that came with the racecar.
Whats that one weight ?.....mine came in a 300kg empty. So that only gives me 699kg to get to the allowable tare of 999kg without brakes.
Lucky the racecar only weighs 620kg eh.

wow, that's light dattoman! both the trailer and the car! don't know if I'd be to keen to add almost a ton to a car without any additional braking though. Then again, there is a mountain range between me and the most common racetrack I use, which influences that a bit I guess... What will you be towing with? I'd definitely be investing in some good brake pads for it...

I work here
Brakes
So brakes aren't a problem for me
I will be putting brakes on the trailer later on.......just needed it licenced now.

I tow with a VB commodore wagon, 253 auto on gas. VT brakes and 4W discs

hehe... oh yeah, I knew you were a brake specialist too... oops!

Do you find the commie tows OK? I've never been a fan of towing with unitary bodied vehicles - the feeling of the trailer tugging and pulling on the car over bumps and whatever makes me cringe for the poor old car body...

I'll let you know when I finish the racecar and actually tow it somewhere

All up I think she is regod for around 1000kg. They kept saying "geez its pretty light isnt it", so I kept saying it was gonna tow a very light car. Mine runs cable disc brakes that I found work fine. I have built the trailer to 2000kg capacity, hitch & grade 8.8 bolts, rocker springs, brakes yadayada, but I wanted to keep it light weight. I think they made the frame the deciding factor. As I mentioned, I want to add in some more frame work for rigidity.

Cheers,
Simon

Ah, looks nice. When I towed that 1200 a couple of months ago, it cost me $60 USD to rent a tow dolly for a short trip ... I was wishing I knew someone with a trailer.

My mate borrowed it for his Sierra and snapped a ramp and ripped off a tail light. He zip tied the light back on and gave me back my busted ramp. Mates heh? Were was my slab of beer? At least the ramp snapped on his car not mine, back to the shed to build some proper tuff ramps.
