That would be so cool to see two KB10's in Okinawa, side by side, & both owned by foreigners.

D
If you get there, you gotta check out Josh's rock-and-roll soda fountain. Straight out of the 50's Talk about your clash of cultures, it looks great, but beware of the dogs, they lick.
Hell, maybee i should sell a kidney & bring my KB10 as well. That should give the local cool car cult something to talk about.

Didnt know you went there? tell us more!! what a spin out. I mean hes sil80 is a gtr with better looks, no fat and RWD!!!
My wife is from the south and already knows I plan to take the 1k or a couple (ill spring that up on her when the time comes) there when we return to live there. Ive lived in Kyoto the old capital for 3 years and love it there very romantic and super cultural old japan full of relics at every turn and inground hot springs so confortable at most times it slowly cooked my gonads. but the summer weather and the beach is also a very attractive way of life. I plan to retire in Amami for its natural beauty, hiking and white water rafting (yeah will keep doing it in my 60s.) but Okinawa will be my mainstay in perhaps 2-3 years now. I can get a house 10mins out of Kyoto for 50k AU and my grandmother in law`s house in Oki for halve that or I could have my parents old house in Argentina for free if I survive there robbing supermarkets and scamming like seen in the movie "9 queens".
Plus Oki has tons of old retro japanese car parts like cheap watanabes for the what the price of hotwires are here.

Keep your kidney and save your classic from rust. Oki is almost pure high mineralised salt.
Ive even invested in what I hope it works a electronic rust inhibitor

Dogs I love and their licks well they are pure love unlike pussies

It's a work in progress and has actually been put on hold due to the possibility of moving. The house we're in has issues we might not want to deal with but here's the flooring and my dogs

I don't know what kind of kids you mix with, but there has never been a day go by when my chest has not swelled with pride over my three. My sons are are 19 & 17 & my daughter is 15. No parent could ever wish for better.
At least i can book into a holliday site with children, but not always with pets.

Coupe's were always the rarest, as they were made for only 15 months [Sept '68 untill Dec.'69] & were right drive only.
If they were sold anywhere other than Japan & Australia, i would like to hear of it.

I did not realise that it had Watinabe's. We learned the value of these things just recently, didn't we.

KB10's rock.

Josh thanx for the offer but I couldnt ask that of you Id ask my wife to do it
Its good to hear that modded cars are easier to register there. I suppose in time I will find out. Ive got some 14 x 7 watanabe magnesiums as well and clad with 185/50/14s they really make the 1k feel like a go cart. They do make a little noise, feel bumpy and send the heartbeat rushing but hey thats the price we have to enjoy living with. you will love this little beauty.

So since the utes heart is not being transplanted whats the current plan
After seen your sil80 I guess its going to be seriously tasty.

 Re: New toy - KB10
Registering modded cars isn't easier here, but bringing modded cars from other countries is a differnt story. They, for whatever reason, look at the way they arrive as 'genuine' so that's how they get registered. So your title would say 13B on it and if you were to put an a series back in you'd have to go through a bunch of paperwork crap to change it back.

I recently picked up a free Silvia with CA18DET/5 speed so with a lot of measuring and thinking, plus some research into registering it, I might go that route but we'll see. I've got an A12 out of a 1200 GX too so that would be the easy route, and my backup plan.

Yip Yip YAAAAHOO

Great one Josh. I knew how you were having internal conflict over this one last night, but i'm glad you got it. It was obviously more affordable than you feared. You are now a member of an exclusive club & on behalf of other KB10 owners, i bid you welcome.

Thanks fellas.

I picked it up for 201,000 yen. It'll be a bit extra to get it down here from mainland. Can't wait to see it in the flesh. I haven't ever seen a coupe in real life... isn't that wierd?

Hey dattoman I'm keen for one of those disc setups if you've got one left, or can whip up a set.

I can do......but frieght might be a killer.
It all comes out of Jap cars so you should be able to source components local if I give you the details of what you need.
All you'd really need from me is the hubs and brackets.
I'll put a list together for you.

Neil

Congratulations amigo
well you must have the only 1000 in okinawa and in the future well be the only 2 in okinawa perhaps.
I wonder how Im gonna get it there though with the rotary engine in it.
Oh well might have to find a dodgy engineer there since okinawans are dodgier than the mainlanders...
Can wait to see this little beast withyour utes running gear!!!

Itll grow on you these little buggers are very cute and I like the watanabes(?) what specs does it have? (5 speed? lsd?)

What I love about this model is the polarised glass. Every time I drove by the great ocean road I could see through to the beach floor.
Awesome in the sun.

Bringing in modified cars from other countries (like T-buckets with no fenders etc.) is easier than modifying a car with an existing registration. I doubt it would be very hard and if you're serious about coming here I can get most of the legwork done for you.

Oh, I don't plan on running the ute running gear... got other 'plans'.

yep 1000's are getting very rare and coupes the rarest, so welcome to that club. These things are as close to having a Kart on the road as u can get.
If u drive it everywhere everyday it will become noisy, bumpy, slow, and cramped. Get in it after anything bigger or modern fwd and it will feel light, direct, raw and pure. Enjoy!
