Kegs hows your fuel system going to be setup?
I dont want to see this engine go bang.

jeff reckons itll be fine using stock pump and everything it just has the redline regulator, anyone ever used one before?

Jeff dont know boost but. Seriously ask him and he will admit it.
It will lean out with that setup.

How much pressure can the pump put out with that reg? ( I dont even understand how that reg can do anything but reduce pressure)

Kegs look at these pics and see what they have in common.

 Re: new parts
phunk, would i be correct in saying they all have big fuel lines?
the only reason ive not upgraded is because i trust jeff's judgement, plus im going on a basis that it doesnt need replacing if it works, just like the stock fuel pump.ill just have to try it and see what happens....
hey boofhead, the cam thingo is the stock carby throttle cam, just onbolt it off the a12 and braze it to a little bush so u can adjust it around the linkage shaft, and tighten with a grub screw. you could just as easily braze it directly to the linkage shaft, but will take a lot of fiddling to make sure of final position.....
ohh hehehe its the reg huh, it didnt register till i stared at the last picture for a few minutes hahaha duuhhh !!!!

 Re: new parts
definately the reg. you need extra fuel pressure pound for pound for boost pressure so a rising rate reg is a good way to do it (there are some ways around it tho). i couldn't see the stock pump as being good enough, but you could find the flow rates of a stocky and see if it'll cut it. i believe you want one capable of 12psi plus whatever boost pressure you run.

1200RC would definately be able to help in this area.

 Re: new parts
with webers/dellorto's u cant run anymore than 3-4 psi or the fuel needles lift of their seats and are no good, u just have to keep the fuel volume up to the fuel bowls. this is what ive been told sounds about right to me, maybe with other carbies where the needles arent sensitive to pressure ur theory is probably correct lagwagon.

Looks good.Only thing I dont like is your choice of fuel line clamps. Ive always prefered the screw up type.
Your spot on there with fuel pressure any more than 4psi with webbers and you will have trouble with needle and seats. Totally different with carbs and turbo compared to injection and turbo. Ill be interested to see how it all goes.

 Re: new parts
The thing in common is they all run rising rate fuel regs.
Seriously call Jeff and ask him. He will tell you he has no experience with turbos.
You are 100% right about the needle and seat. And a stock fuel pump will no doubt flow enough fuel and the carbs will no doubt be setup to supply whats required.
But add boost pressure.
If you forcing 5psi of boost into a carbie and you have a fuel pump that can only supply 4psi of fuel pressure ( what will happen ) I will tell you - no fuel will be able to enter the carb because the air pressure inside the carb is overpowering the fuel pressure. ( What good is a pump that can flow more than you need, if it cant supply it to where it is needed? ) ( What will happen to your pistons if they still get plenty of air - a little fuel - and a spark ? It gets hot - White hot bloody fast )

Add an EFI pump ( which can flow more than you need and still supply a higher pressure than the boost you can run )
Add a Rising Rate Reg ( like the one pictured Malpassi brand - It is a carbie model not efi. It has a fuel supply inlet, a fuel supply outlet, a fuel return and a vac/boost ref port.
The design of this reg is:
* You supply it with fuel ( flow and pressure greater than you will need )
* You set the fuel pressure you want at idle ( I have always used VL fuel pumps and set the pressure at 5psi at idle )
The reg regulates the fuel pressure by returning the excess fuel back to the tank.
This is how fuel pressure is kept low but with still more than enough flow for the carbies needs.
* As your engine develops boost - the reg reduces the amount of fuel able to return to the tank. This increase fuel pressure and still has lots of flow.

Your needle and seat in you carbie cant handle lots of fuel pressure being placed on it. But by supplying boost pressure to the carbie - the needle and seat can handle more pressure. The pressure difference between fuel bowl air pressure and fuel supply pressure will still remain the same ( This is why the needle and seat can handle the higher fuel pressure. )

LAG's is right about 1200rc, he set it up so boost pressure switch turns on a higher pressure pump at a set boost pressure.

I am just trying to give you advice.
Use it or not. Dont why waste a good engine?

I am gonna go talk to Jeff this week and I am sure he will change his mind when its explained to him.
