Re: finished 180b tunnel looks better from under the car, not much in the way of welds left under there
thus the reason for leaving the welds inside the car where they can be covered with carpet

Re: finished 180b tunnel nice work but I just put an SR2o in my 1200 with a R32 GTS-T box and did no mods to the tunnel at all. Im thinking that its a waste of time doing tunnel mods like this

Re: finished 180b tunnel well im thinking that i couldnt get the gearbox in the tunnel even after a long time with a sledge hammer, yes there was nothing gentle like massaging going on here
so after a lot of messy tunnel expanding i made the decision to go for the neat and highly roomy (compared to standard) new tunnel idea
i dont know if my tunnel was just a midget one or something, but people say that the sss stanza 5 speed will fit in a standard tunnel without removing the original gearbox mounts, well mine sure as hell didnt
if you want to go for a butcher kinda job on your car, try using the standard tunnel, you might have more luck with fitting it that i did but if you want a neat tunnel where you can fit a reverse switch and fit you hand all the way round the gearbox, go the new tunnel
even with this tunnel, its still a bit of a tight fit, well tighter than i wanted any way, and this tunnel is miles bigger than standard
EDIT: to answer your question, the only realy hard bit is getting the 180b tunnel the same shape as the 1200 floor, just takes a bit of time with tin snips and a hammer

Re: finished 180b tunnel yeh that looks really neat!!! I love it! My tunnel is about the smallest for the CA box to fit in the standard (yet very modified) tunnel... Might be able to get away with a little bit less if you move the motor further forward, but i prefer to keep it back as much as possible.

Re: finished 180b tunnel the engines sitting pretty close to th firewall, but its still close to the front of the car as well its also as low as it can go before modifying the drag link, sumps already modded to clear it and crossmember notched
im quite happy with the end result, it looks all safe and legal and thats what i was aiming for

Re: finished 180b tunnel To get mine in all i had to do was gently beat the crap out the tunnel on the rounded part where tunnel meets firewall. Then i removed the gearbox mounts from inside the tunnel so i could fit the reverse switch.

Re: finished 180b tunnel yes but arent the auto tunnels bigger then the manual tunnels? pigdod could have had a manual tunnel and you had an auto? that could be the reason you got the gearbox in easier then pigdog

Re: finished 180b tunnel mine was most definatly a manual one, its now a bit bigger than an auto one around the back, and lots wider at the front

Re: finished 180b tunnel Nah mines manual mate, still using the orig cable for my clutch. Mine is a squeeze though, the shifter hole had to be made longer by about 50mm.

Re: finished 180b tunnel in fact I had better luck getting the Skyline box in than I did with the 63A box, granted I had to take the cross member off and lower the engine right to the ground and join the gearbox onto the engine underneath the car then raise them both up. I could never slide it all in one piece like I did with the a series.
