So you can fabricate all of the necessary attachments to install a big block chevy, modify the firewall, obviously make the necessary improvements to the braking, steering, etc. systems of the car and some guy in a Ranger Rick uniform with his sewn on badge can declare it "unsafe"? I thought that you guys had some form of a representative republic down there, not a socialist state.

yea defects are very common here in SA, most of the time for stupid little things, esp too low. The traffic cops love to defect, last i heard regency had a 1 month waiting period!

yeah my mate got done for loose battery, after the cop sat there wiggling it for about a minute to get it loose

i just hope no cops pull me over, an orange and black car isnt sus

I had the fuzz try do me for no left mirror, I just said dont defect my girlfriends car man, thats just sad, I also added that pre 75 cars dont have to have a left mirror. He told me not to talk back and told me this was a warning.

In my first sunny I had both drivers and passengers mirrors taken off and smoothed over. nyway, one night I got pulled over and the cop said that it was illegal to have no mirrors on the outside of my car, and I told him that the car was like that when they were sold new. And he believed me and told me to have a good night

I never had a problem with my L18 1200 on the road. In QLD when an engineer approves your mods they affix a "blue plate" to the engine bay with the code for the mods they approved. cops ask you to pop the bonnet, and you simply point to the mod plate. Not much they can do then.

Do you Austrailians get pulled over just for an inspection under the hood? They must be pretty strict?

yer man, they can pull you over and look over your car when ever, rego check and defect if they find somethin. depends how smart they are, some got no idea
