yeah they are a nice engine when not in a 1300kg commodore

the only work that its likely to see is a friendly supercharger hanging off the side

 Re: promise breaker
Maybe a little off-topic, but there used to be a guy down the street from us, that had a Ford 3.0 V6 Essex engine built into a 1200 Toyota UTE. Rememer those tiny ones, about the size of the Datto UTE's.

It was a sight to see, firewall modded, strut towers modded, the works, but from the outside it still looked stock. He also had it roadworthied, which I guess is the same as your engineer's certificate.

That looks well ,I was going to do the same and found it wont be registerable in QLD so ive opted to find an early hilux ,My brother has done a v6 commo engine into a hilux and had easily obtained a engineers report in VIC ,You will find you will need a pulley with a tensioner to replace the power steering pulley these are available from castlemaine rod shop they sell a kit premade for this application cheers geoff .......

Yes, funny but it doesn't look as big as a CA18 or SR20.

It looks very similar to the GM 3800 V6.

 Re: promise breaker
i know its a shame to put one of these in a datsun, but if i didnt it would just rust away doing nothing
so putting this in has inspired myself and some mates to make it into a weapon

and yes it is a small engine, once i have a tunnel to suit it will only really be a matter of getting the exhaust to fit, nothing else really hard about it
i had doubts of it fitting past the steering box, but once i sat it in there.....too easy

Commo 6s are really compact but. 90degree. Really price wise they are a great conversion if only legal. Sure there heavy but you can buy complete VNs for $500. Cant beat cheap horsepower

 Re: promise breaker
yeah its a series 2 vp v6, it was sitting around and is about to go into a vp ute, but did well for fitting

in the next week i will be getting a mostly complete series 1 auto vn wagon, so ill use the motor and box out of it and see how long it runs for, also using the vn trans tunnel

plan is to be mainly a burnout car, cant see it having to much trouble spinning in top gear which with the right ratios will be near 200kph, but for now ill guess 150 with the 3.7 diff

still gotta sort out the IRS and make the rest of the chassis and roll cage so the car has some strength to it again
