I think I might just take a crazy chance and remove that brace regardless of whatever support it may provide. What can I say, I live on the wild side.

Does that brace really have that much structural integrity? I was only going to cut it out so that I could fit more oblong objects into the car.

If the cross brace was not required for structural integtity, then the factory would have left it out & saved 3 cents on every car they made.
It's there for a reason.

perhaps that's why they are a few kilo's heavier?? bracing elswhere to make up for it.

I would suggest that you don't cut the bracing out from behind the seat.

Other than that looks like a nice way to hide the ICE in the carpark when the seat are dropped over the top. Could probably get away with some foam and seatcovers if the seat is never going to be used.

Yeah, leave the bracing intact.
