Here is the new upgrade to my rear suspension. I have fitted the tramp rods to the top of the diff and made the rear springs as soft as possible to give me better traction. i also made the front mounts adjustable.

 Re: Tramp Rod
The concept is a good one and obviously working well. A similar concept is used in V8 Supercars, even though using a 4 link they still run a cushion in the top arm. This is a bump rubber, or a set of 'Belville' washers (cone shaped) stacked up to form a spring, on a slide. You aren't looking for much movement, 3 to 5mm at most but it is enough to bring back the compliance , loose the bind and put the power to the ground.

 Re: Tramp Rod
theres plenty of diff options for the sprinter guys with lsd's and assortment of ratios

surely you would be better off upgrading the diff than going crazy on axles

how does the sprinter diff compare to the widht of the standard 1200 diff? i thought it was quite a bit wider

You must have some really good shocks as those springs would be as soft as Mother Teresa's heart, & if axle breakages are becoming a problem, then perhaps periodic axle inspection will need to be something that needs toi be tacked onto the race-prep checklist.

Axles rarely just break, but instead they most commonly show signs of twisting at the spline first, then they 'eventually' break, so a couple of spare axles & an occasional inspection might save the day.

I have noticed that cars with locked diffs are more prone to this & I suspect that this is due to the fact than in uneven traction conditions, just one axle is doing all the work, carying the whole torque load, & the loading from a high performance engine is enough to do the damage.

Yes inspection might help but I have just lost all confidence in the diff, I don't want to have to "take it easy" to finish an event. I am looking into billet axels similar to full floaters but cheaper. The axel will be splined at both end but the wheel bearing will press onto the axel and then you just bolt on you hub to it. I have been quoted about $2000 for a pair.?

Are you still running the Sprinter TRD LSD and that's breaking axles behind an A series?

The blue bracket is his axle tube/diff housing.

 Re: Tramp Rod
The blue stuff is Redline synth gear oil.

yes still running the sprinter diff the lsd is the best but axels suck.

This setup gives me 185mm of travel from droop to bump stop the same as the fromt setup but with the 3rd leaf removed gives me about 1" lower than standard ride hight.

I am Currently using bilstein shocks but i was thinking about some custom Murray Coote ones but at $3000 a pair I might just do the axels for now.

i will post some more pics of the setup soon.

 Re: Tramp Rod
I just tried this setup at an autocross, it must work in giving better traction because I broke another axel.?
