jaime, i just re-read your rant, and you did realize that your 120y would never have been smog exempt?

even though the d.o.m. was '75, it was still sold as a '76 model, and '75 model year is the cutoff for smog exempt

still that's no consolation for your loss, but that's why all your dattos need to be '75 or older in Kahlifoaniah

I understand Matt. I was told it would, but perhaps at the end the DMV was going to tell me exactly what you are saying. Still, I could had gotten an earlier B210 and pass all my parts to the older one. I wrote that diatribe not for the exemption problem and or smog requirements, but for the dead end road the states knowingly create legally with the clear and overt intention of ridding the state of fee exempted vehicles.

You know what I mean.....manipulation of the law with malice aforethought and perfidy!

you'll be seeing fewer and fewer cars that fall into the "limbo" years of smog equipment

i used to see a couple 120y's driven by ladys here in town. both those cars have disappeared

Hey Curtis. In New Zeland they have this tire , Bridgestone brand, I think it is the Bridgestone 300 ( got to check my records ) in sizes through the 215/50 up to 235/50/13.
I am going to get a set of tires here in US, 4 * 215's for my next project. Here the price is low ( I guess I have to take advantage, the fad calls for large diameter...so I can have a blast...LOL) about 52.00 dollars a piece.
I just got a grille and a dash (SSS) for my 180B from Australia , Australian Post Sea mail is great. Takes a while, but the price is fine.
You could get the 215/50/13 Sumitomo from here....shipped to Australia via Australian Post......think about it.

About the wheels, it was a one piece 8 in wheel. The guy told me I was getting one of the last rims...... right now I guess it would have to be a split rim.....still....a good wheel maker can do a great job. I know of some racers that went 10 in with a 3 part job.....

I have not found out the effset yet...I will let you know...

Curtis.
For the quote on price, I suggest you check it from your end , from Australia. Here in the US shipping is robbery.....once I wanted to get 120Y bumpers for my Datto....Fedex US quoted me 500.00 US dollars for the shipment.....bastards....like 625.00 AU dollars.......no way.
You could arrange for AU Post to get it....the tires could be shipped from the seller to AU post shippers....
About my rear tires, I had 215/50's all around. I was thinking about 235's....rear....massaged fender arches and lowered.....sick!!!

The picture shows the 215's...

Yes, that is the Datto that got "stolen". the body was about to get painted...all the money went into suspension and engine parts. Fortunately I saved many of the engine parts because I did not install them...I was to work on it while painting it....o well.

About the rear marker , yes, correct , US spec. I never liked it though, I was going to take it off at painting.

 Re: 13X8
The law is corrupted and geared towards eliminating older cars that will be exempted ( hence pay no more hefty smog fees nor pay for smog tests...not feeding the system ever ) from smog regulations and in that way becoming a "black hole" from the perspective of the state.

Any car close to that time ( exemption ) will be targeted.
The law leaves your car in limbo and easy prey for the other branch of the mafia to get at it, the" law enforcement" / "police".
By making it difficult , if not imposible , to smog your car, you pay the anual fees but get no stickers for the license plate. That makes your car easy prey. You are given a permit by the DMV to operate the car...but that permit is the carrot at the stick, because when stopped by a police officer, or if your car is parked, the police can and will tow it away , because in their definition, the car is "not registered". Not registered because it has no stickers.
This organized ring cares less about your smog issue nor the fact that the fees have been paid in full nor a DMV issued permit affixed to the car as instructed.
Once your car is gone, you can not get it back, because in order to do so, it must be "registered". To get it registered as such it has to be smogged, and being the vehicle at the impound lot, you will not be able to smog it.
When calling the DMV to clarify the issue and to ask them to notify the police that the car is in compliance with a DMV permit issued, fees paid and smog certification pending .....

( part of the reason the car did not pass is that the emissions parts I.E air pump, selenoids of various kinds, valves , etc are no longer available. Note that car dealers / manufacturers" By Federal Law" are only required to sell the emissions related parts for 10 years after a vehicle hits the market. If the law says that a car has to be smogged for ever, for 30 years , currently 1975...32 years...you are screwed...because 22 years ago Datsun/Nissan ceased to sell emissions related parts.
You can not repair this smog system and your car will nopt be able to get through...carefully planned conspiracy)...

... the "Poncious Pilatus" DMV washes its hands and responds that although the fees were paid, the police dept has free lance to interpret the law as it sees and feels fit.

Incredible, so you are basically ripped off your car, despite the fact you are compliying with the law.
That car would had been exempted in Jan 2005. It was sold in 1976, but manufactured in 1975. Only months away from exemption, but the "mafia" decided I did not deserve any benefit of the doubt, and, proceeded like a mafia.

I have 2 cars that went through this same dead end master plan. I am going to sue the state. yes, it sounds ludicrous, but with all the ammunition of documents I kept in file, I will prove that the authorities did not act in the best interest of a resident, but used the law in a manner that was not within the spirit of the law.

Revenge will be sweet. I am not looking for money, but I want to sink those involved in this dirty scam

...............that was my daily gulp of gasoline.....GGGRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

OK. Thanks for that. That is just wrong. I can't believe all of the stuff that I read here. I used to live in Colorado and I imagine that they were heading toward that same kind of system with their emission testing. I now live in FL and it seems less problematic here.

Good luck on your quest.

He is an idiot. Sorry for my french....but this guy is a wannabie. I use his terminator videos as tire blocks....he sucks!

"De gobernorrr of Kaliphorniah is mee , misteu arknoldd zwatzennegeau "

You are right racinaround......Fla is still a reasonable place vehicle wise.

I have no problem with implementation of laws , but it has to be made in a manner that is civilized and neutral. The law can not be "used" and "taylormade" to suit groups of interest. The group of interest in question is the "State of California" , or as Matt eloquently noted out, the "State of Kahlifoaniah".
