Sipper would have been a cool name.

You must be a young 'un. This car was in a commercial for the "Un-cola" (7-up soda). This car has the same white/green color scheme as 7-up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncola

Also this was a backlash to the "gas guzzlers" during the 1974 oil crisis


The Datsun here was probably just trying to get down the street, Datsuns didn't need to stop for gasoline very often...

Next time I talk to a SUV guy about that guzzler....I will make note that Datsuns are sippers compared to SUVs
