 Re: Gearbox left and right
I know it only as the Toyota 21R gearbox, and that it was fitted to Cressida's. Can't find any model numbers on the gearbox, the only number I could find looks like a serial number, with no letters only numbers. The new cast bell is already fitted which converts it to bolt up with a 4AGE 16/20V.

I haven't been able to identify it to one of the names people call it by on the net. There's W50, T50,T40, K...etc. So it's difficult to work out if the speedo gear is right for the Datto clock and so on. BTW. the datto speedo cable screws right into the gearbox where the original electronic pickup sits, here visible in the top part of the pic at the rear of the box, just to the right of the mounting(huh?)...

The gearbox has 21 splines on the input and output shafts, which are both 27.5mm thick, give or take a few hundredths. In fact, I got a piece of the driveshaft with, as seen hanging out the back of the box, which I pulled out and it fit over the input shaft perfectly.

Can anyone ID the box for me, so that people know what the h3ll I'm talking about when I speak of it...

That be a 21R toyota box as you said kulula, I'm running one on my Mazda engined bakkie - it eats them for breakfast!! If you do a google search on it you'll find plenty info. Better box to use: Supra 7mge/7mgte 5 speed - looks similiar only fatter around the girth - never breaks. I'm looking for one at the moment
