...left side is still ok, but rightside seems to have been ripped out or something.

Re: We can like to be having a problem...
I suspect that the previous owner might have driven over something with the right side of the car as the right rear bottom spring was also damaged. I'll phone Nissan, but don't think they would have it available, although the factory is just on the other side of the mountain...Mmmmmmm

I made a dummy bracket from 2mm plate to see of it would work, had no 3mm available. The left side has what looks like a tiny hairline crack radiating from the hole.

So reading all of your posts, I think I'll just go ahead and rather replace both sides. Don't want to loose a wheel at 200...

Hi all,
I'd like to know if it would be safe to make up a new inside bracket for this, and weld it in there. I've sort of decided that it should be safe using 3mm plate, but just want other opinions.

I've phoned around, but couldn't find a ute to cut up for it's bracket...

How did you do that!

I would try again for another mount, but you can repair it, ive seen photos on here before of similar repairs.

Can you not get a new mount from nissan?

I replaced a Radius Rod mount on my old coupe, it was too bent to fix, I had a small incident with a embankment.

Was not done by him but previous owner.

Kulula, I wonder, would it not be better to make new ones for both sides?
The other one also does'nt look very good.
Looks rusted badly or is it just the photo making it look worse than it is.
Try and remove the good one as it is only fixed to the body with spotwelds.
Use it as a template and make new ones.
I think 3mm steel will be fine.
Just make sure to weld it properly to the car when fitting.

considered using S13 mounts? Or something else with same lower arm bolt spacing?

Would be better to do all of them at the same time, to assure same strenght and even dimensions.

Mine did this aswell after normal everyday road use.

My car has done 370,000kms + so I reckon it's a wear thing.

I had them replaced with S13 stuff and now no probs!

With the Bakkie either still in production, or only just out of production, you should be able to buy these new as a spare part if you want to stick with original 1200 model parts.

Don't bother replacing just one.

That happened to me -- twice. The right side is under the battery, so gets "acid dipped" over time. Then some off-roading and it breaks.

My local panel beater welded new ones up. Better than new.

New factory mounts were sold on eBay recently.
