With the small pipe on it makes the car nice and quiet but understandably it loses heaps of power!

Hi I'm also thinking of doing a fake granny spec exhaust tip, and this is what I came up with, and will be making for my car.

A further idea is to actually make a sliding trap door/valve thing for the 75mm where it exits. you can then simply open and/or close it when desired. Make that work with a cable, and you've got the ultimate sleeper exhaust...

should actually cut the small pipe off and reweld it so that it doesnt go all the way through the big peice

then you might get a bit of a power gain as the exhaust gasses are still sorta getting out, rather than going to a dead end then having to find there way back to the small hole

maybe it's worth pointing out that I made this pipe only to keep the car quiet. As you can see I already have a "high flow" attachment that can go on if I'm after the extra power.

It's basically a solution so I can drive the car around and not worry too much until I add a cat and extra muffler into the 3 inch pipe.

Most of you will know how hard it is to find space for mufflers under a 1200 sedan, let alone trying to find a place for a cat and still keep it high enough off the ground

Wouldn't the huge back pressure affect more than the performance?

Like what?

I suppose there's going to be more flange leakage but I don't imagine it would perform much worse than the stock silvia pipe. I think they came out with about a 2inch exhaust but mine is still 3 inch from the turbo down to the diff which gives the gases time to contract before they have to go through the small pipe.

I dont know maybe higher valve temps and as a result valve seats burning out?

Yeh but he would loose the sleeper look. Coz if you see a pee shooter your not gonna expect a run for your money are ya?

Use the big pipe but cut it short and leave the pee shooter hanging out/ out of sight out of mind theory.

Yeah I'd sugest keeping the little pipe connected to a side of the big one without the reducer so that when your standing near it it's still pushing some exhaust out, so as to keep confusing people
