This is my idea for a fake granny spec exhaust tip. 75mm pipe exits underneath the fake silencer through it's outer skin, and some gazes should still exit through the small tip.

One of our members did the same thing, but without the muffler. The real pipe dumped before the bumper & was out of sight, then a pipe that looked like a drinking straw came out the rear, just like in the illustration.

The Sunny [B310] was powered with an L20B & dual Webered, Could make a good account of itself too. Now,I'm not at liberty to name names, but as for the car, it was Ferral. [oops]

We used to have that setup on the granny car. The bottom of the muffler was rusted away, letting the majority of the gasses out, but the pea shooter still sat out the back!

But seriously, I think it is a very cool idea.

These are all helpful ideas, but I don't understand how you plan on fitting the muffler on your sedan? The only way you could fit a muffler would be to bash in the wheel well or hang it really low.

Mmmmmm, Daveman I don't think I understand what you're trying to say/ask. The exhaust will be a 75mm straight pipe which will exit through this false muffler design, which will sit where the standard rear muffler used to. Only difference is the 75mm will exit underneath the muffler, out of sight, with the fake tip attached at the back like in the sketch. There is plenty space for a muffler there, at least the same size as the standard one...

Thus there will be no actual "working" mufflers anywhere in the main pipe. Noise should not be a problem, because you're pointing it at the ground, and not up or sideways to spread it's ugly little law enforcement calling wings...

My sedan only ever had one muffler just behind the rear foot well. So you are saying you are going to dump the 3 inch pipe there and then run the stock pipe to the rear of the car?

I would suggest that it will be too loud. With my 3 inch exhaust with a muffler and a tip pointing at the ground it is too loud.

I thought originally you were planning on doing this trick to a muffler at the rear of the car where there is no room.

My old man in his younger days had an EJ that he used to street drag. He had a similar setup except that he used to have the branch near the fire wall. He had a gate valve with a long stem with the tap handle through the floor near the gearstick. He would close the valve for going past the constabulary, and open it up for draging. Similar to your design, but had a tap to turn it off and on!
