I agree the facilties were first rate. I didn't get home till 10:30pm Sunday night but I had organised Monday off work to recover. I would love to go back next year and try for a low 47.

Thanks Matty,i'll give him a ring.Pittsworth is next,will i see you and all the other Brissy members there.It starts off Saturday with a grand parade thru town(police escort spew)followed by sprints till the burnouts start Sat night then all day sunday.Camping is not as classy but open fires are ok.Should have my 1000 coupe up by then plus the blue 120y and old reliable as usual.Cheers Bert

I can't make Leyburn but I will be competing at Pittsworth. My brother Sam, green Fiat 125S, will be doing both events.

We are off to Morgan Park this Tuesday which should be fun too.

I rang the organisers of Leyburn to get their advice on wheather or not they would be interested in the 1000 seeing as how its the only one in Qld.(to my knowledge)and with a motor sport heritage.The basic response was,put in an entry,it then goes to a commitee to decide if the car is appropriate,but if we get enough genuine relics from the past etc. etc.etc.don't call us we will call you if we need the numbers.Some people really do think their ---- does'nt stink and all for $240.00 odd bucks and half a dozen runs.The same response i got from Speed on Tweed a few years ago when the car was basically stock.It will be interesting to see how many dual entrys,same owner multible entrys,fibreglass cobras,kit cars non HRRC members get a start.Morgan Park on a Tuesday?is it a practice day or is King Billy Cambell doing something i'm not up with?

I've heard Leyburn isn't easy to get into. Sounds like it's not worth the effort anyway. They certainly won't ever allow my car to run if they are questioning your's.

I don't have many details about Morgan Park as I have received the information second hand from my brother. From what understand it is an untimed practice day for $110. Each session will be 5 to 6 laps and sessions will be run all day. I think there are more details on performanceforums.com but I haven't checked.

Nah mate i won't be there,what you have described is a morgan park practice day as i now them.I suspect there will be more of these in the future to generate funds to help pay for recent track improvements.My next will be Pittsworth,but Rob Jnr.i think want's to do another Q.R. before that.Depending on which circuit layout he has you on at Warwick you will have fun,might i suggest you take as many changable bits as you have,sway bars,rear hangers,shocks etc. and have a good play against the stopwatch,but only one change at a time and write everything down.ENJOY

That is exactly what Sam and I plan on doing Rob. You just don't get the opportunitity to change many things at a QR sprint.
I will be taking up a couple of sets of tyres, different brake pads etc. The main things I want to get a handle on are tyre pressures with my new tyres and the front shock adjustment.

If i where you i would knock up a set of rear spring hangars on the weekend.Make them with three holes,the centre hole in the stock position,one 10mm higher(closer to the rail)and one 10mm lower.I think you will be amazed what differance this small mod can make to turn in and mid corner performance at both ends of the car.Call me if you like Cheers

Thanks for your kind thoughts Matty,it was nice to meet you guys too.I have to say i think it was one of the best events i have been to,even though it was wet for 75% of my runs.I have been to heaps of different events over the years but this one takes the cake for the facilities,camping etc.the show grounds certainly gave it the edge.I was very happy to get into the 49's on my final run,not to bad for the little 1400.We where also in the lucky position to stay Sunday night and come home Monday which meant we could bite the top off several stubbies after presentations
