Hmmmm, perhaps some new script emblems on the flanks & those pillars look a little bare. Any plans there?

 Re: fresh
bumpers are original, however saying that, the sedan was rear ended the other day [be it only slightly] so the bumper will have to be straightened and re-chromed. The C pillar badges are in the shed and just have to be put on.

Does anyone know the exact position for mounting the factory "GX" C pillar badges.

Funny you should ask.

The C pillar badges seem to have been put in two different places:
* early 1200s - down low
* later 1200s - a bit higher up
Take a look at the photos and try to figure out where you want to place them, there is no exact measurements.

Somebody could pop their badges off and tape a ruler to the pillar and snap a piccy, that might help ... I would guess the mounting holes for DX, GL and GX pillar badge are all the same.

 Re: fresh
If Ddgonzal is right, & he usually is, then we have a couple of points to note with Hendrik's car
A. It's a 1975 model
B. It's a ZADM [South African Domestic Model]

It would appear that the GX emblem placement was not changed, presumably in line with the JDM facelift in '72, so this would serve as an excellent example of the earlier, lower emblem placement.

P.S. I just LOVE the round decal on the window. It's just so, ... so, ... so right.

And yet, there is something that says 'complete' with a properly trimmed car. Something that says, ' this how a real car should be, fresh from the factory.
Performance & appearance, ... all in one smart looking package. Well, that's my leanings anyway.

I will take soe measurements tonight of the GX badge's location and post on this thread for all to know.

Thanks for the comment Dodgeman.I just HAD to put this sticker on somewhere. Is located on both sides in this space. This is the only sticker on the outside of the car.
In the engine bay I will be sticking a "Datsun genuine parts" sticker on the firewall.(Is still lying in my shed).
I also don't like overdoing things with stickers.Just enough.

 Re: fresh
Good lord, why those mirrors look like genuine GX ones, & brand new too boot.
You know, .... I had a set of these, but can't remember where I put them. LOL.

OK people, yes, these are the ones that Matt Big Hat helped me to buy out of Japan sometime last year, or was it the year before.
They belong on a GX & this is as good an example as I could find, so I provided them in a trade deal.

I suspect that these are the first genuine 1200 GX mirrors to bee seen on the streets here in Aus.
Anybody know of someone using them before today?

Lookin good Ben.

 Re: fresh
Is that the Wollongong coastline in the background?

I have been trying to talk myself out of buying a sedan for ages, I came up with these excuses...
- The ute is almost perfect, I can make myself be happy with one'
- I'm stretching the love with the girlfriend enough as it is,
- I've got other things that I want to spend the money on,
- I havent got the spare time,
- I havent got the space,
- Too hard to find parts for,
- and a ####load of others that I cant think of now,
- Mainly I want to keep the girlfriend.. lol

BUT THAT CAR MAKES ME CHECK MY BANK BALANCE... I LOVE IT ITS EVEN SEXY BLUE...

Would LOVE some really high quality pics of it... I will even take them if you want!!!....

keep it simple and dont go overboard.. Go for a colour that wont look out of place in a decades time IMO

Im chasing the factory look [apart from the wheels]. "Factory Options" parts is where its at for me. The recent paintjob is by no means perfect, but im satisfied with finish so far. Not bad for a 12 week turnaround [strip and rebuild and quite alot cold nights in the shed]

I leave the speed stuff for the racecar on the track.

That is the same story with my GX.Also chasing factory look and just small improvements like:
Electronic dizzy.
Electric fan instead of mechanical fan.
Aluminium tappet cover.
13" wheels.
2005 model "bakkie" complete front strut suspention.
The rest stock standard.
My paint job is however VERY close to perfect.
