This is the front hoop, it goes through the base-plate on the floor and ties into the chassis rails. Should add a bit more strength into the car.

I was a bit worried about wheel clearance when I first saw this but I will be using solid caster rods so there shouldn't be any movement, what do you guys think?

I think you'll be alright - its the lump higher up that gets in the way.

this is what I did to clear the -7 offset 13*7" Superlites like you have in the other photos, and a 205/60 tyre. I was running alot of castor as well - about 6 degrees IIRC and that was all from adjustment on the castor rod, so the wheel was pulled forward quite a long way. moreso than it would if you got some castor from the strut top.

On left is a standard footwell - I didn't get a 'before' shot, so this was my sedan which was waiting for rust repairs.

yea I'm a bit worried that with the floor plate and cage bar in there I'm not going to be able to remove much of the lump higher up. there are so many little things to try to remember when modifying/building a car. Oh well I'll deal with it when I come to it...

Is it legal to have parts of the cage mounted externally for MANZ rules?

good question, I assume it is as lotus 7s and frasers etc have external caging (along the sides of the car) plus the guys doing it are very professional so I assume they know what they are doing... either way I'm paying them for a cert'd cage so its their problem if it isn't.

The mod that harry has pointed out isnt really hard to do, just have to unpick the spot welds and trim and bend back up. You may have to do at a later date.

They holesawed the floor for my cage so they could drop it down to weld all around the top of the main hoop and get it real nice and close to the roof, then push it back up in the car and made up feet.

Just saw in the other picks how they tied it into the a pillar, do you reckon you could get a closer pic of one of the pillars?

Cheers
Sean

Yea sure just put it up for ya, sorry about the quality had to zoom and crop another image as I don't have a close up and the car is about an hour and a half drive from my place.
