These are my custom front struts. They are 1200 spindles, welded to a 510 tube with a Koni race insert and Eibach 250 lb. spring. I used a Wilwood Dynapro single caliper which has the same piston size and mounting lugs as the original but is stiffer and weighs less than a pound!Hawk autocross pads and a Wilwood 10.25" two-piece disc,  capped with Datsport's camber plates.

It's so easy for us as humans to jump to the negative's especially when it comes to other peoples projects. Nice struts mate keep up the good work.

wow, love the cheese grater disks. Dont expect pads to last forever haha.
Very sexy setup you have there. Are 510 strut 50mm or 45mm internal dia?
Looks like ground control coilover sleeve aswell?
Let us know how the spring rate is like in the 12.

Building it as a vintage road race car. That's why I couldn't use a 4 pot caliper. (These are only $90 bucks apiece though!) I'm using American racing Libra wheels, 13x7's.

Haven't tried em yet! Rob Walker, who has one of the fastest road race 1200's around, told me that the stock 1200 calipers with good pads stops his race car easily. These as stiffer, with a much bigger diameter disc for better lever action so they should work great without adding any unsprung weight! We'll see though when I get that car on the track!

UPDATE! I finally got these struts on the car! Wow is all I can say! The pedal is rock hard and the car stops ridiculously fast! I haven't done any measured stops yet but the feel is outstanding. Plus the huge holes in the disc make this great electric motor hum while hard braking! The 250 LB. springs were way too stiff for street, maybe alright for the track. I dropped down to 175 for now which is working great!

mmmm yeah 250lb springs would knock your molers out after about 6 miles on the 405. Rob Walker would know 1200's for sure since he's been racing the them for about 35 years. I guess I never quite got the right pads in the stock calipers as they always seemed a tad weak.

Tom.

to my surprise and what will surprise many others is that willwood calipers are not expensive for what they are

Are four spot calipers availabe too suit the caliper mounting and that disc? Can you give us part numbers? Just finished my coilovers and need a solution for brakes. I'd like too try a setup like yours but run 4 spots if possible. Also want to stay under 13" wheels.

looks sexy but i have to wonder what the area of the pad is compared to the area of those big holes. when the hole is at the centre of the pad you would be reducing the contact area by 50% it appears???

They're 47mm inside, 50mm outside. It pretty much slip fit over the 1200 tube. Haven't run it yet so I can't comment on the spring rate...
