These are my custom front struts. They are 1200 spindles, welded to a 510 tube with a Koni race insert and Eibach 250 lb. spring. I used a Wilwood Dynapro single caliper which has the same piston size and mounting lugs as the original but is stiffer and weighs less than a pound!Hawk autocross pads and a Wilwood 10.25" two-piece disc,  capped with Datsport's camber plates.

Hey mate,

I've spotted your Wilwood set-up and I am going to do the same on my Datsun B110 sedan, now I really don't like bothering people on the forum as these days everyone is so so busy and I appreciate that but when I get really stuck I reach out for help.

I spotted your set-up and got in touch with Wilwood directly with the photos you posted and they have basically identified what you have from the pictures.

They are saying as follows: (Below)

As such, we are more than happy to help, though we don’t know the exact part number of the components being used. If we were to hazard a guess, our 160-3748 rotor may be a candidate:

http://www.wilwood.com/Rotors/RotorProd.aspx?itemno=160-3748

We make the Dynapro single with two different mounting dimensions - 3.25” and 3.75”; do you know which one you require?

3.25” version (1.75” pistons; 0.38” thick rotor):
http://www.wilwood.com/Calipers/CaliperProd.aspx?itemno=120-10188

3.75” version (1.75” pistons; 0.38” thick rotor):
http://www.wilwood.com/Calipers/CaliperProd.aspx?itemno=120-9689

NOW with this comes two questions: (on the above)

1 - will the rotor they recommend be OK for my car?

2 - Which of the caliper versions did you use? (3.25 or 3.75)

3 - How have you found the performance of the set-up with time? now past?

I would love to hear from you on this.

Best regards,

Dave.

Wilwood 160-3748 is a 10.25" rotor (260mm). Depending on the size of the caliper, I imagine it will fit under a 14" rim ... iffy with 13" rims (although 280ZX 258mm brakes fit with some 13" wheels)

Datsun 1200 struts use 84mm caliper bolt spacing (3.30"). LOWTECH in this photo was using stock 1200 spindles & hubs

Sexy! Nice and light!

I used to have discs like that on my sprint kart.

They would be maddat strut tops? I didn't think datsport made them.

i suppose you went for light weight when choosing brake package

kind of look like motorbike brakes to me...

Rob Walker, who has one of the fastest road race 1200's around, told me that the stock 1200 calipers with good pads stops his race car easily. I'm racing Vintage, so I couldn't use 4pots.These as stiffer than stock, with a much bigger diameter disc for better lever action so they should work great without adding any unsprung weight! Besides the 1200's such a light car anyway. Legally, I can run it at 1200 pounds(if I can get it down that light!)..We'll see though when I get that car on the track!
