im trying to decide where to put the intercooler and its orientation, the choices are
1- to have it where it is  - problem is its low and may get damaged by stones ect ect. but looks the best
2- to have it where it is but flipped upside down so the pipes are on the top - problem is i have to cut alot more it fits the shape of the gap better.
3- cut away more of the panel and move it up higher - problem the bumper will be covering half the cooler preventing airflow which then kinda defeats the purpose of a cooler

well throw me your opinion

im going to have to agree and say that putting it right out front for everyone to see is just plaib ugly and show off. Put it infront of the radiator and shroud everything else off so the air flow will have to go through it. If you put it out front with no shroud like it is then the air isnt going to go through it so much anyway, just follow the path of least resistance and go around. And its more vulnerable to being destroyed.
Its a no brainer.

Why not get a cheap valance ( import panel )
and cut the piece directly above the cooler away (were the stainless trim goes) that way you can raise it , a couple of half bumpers and a double custom grille.

For looks I will go with the outside!!! If you have bad roads like we have I will rather mount it behind the grille to protect it!
Either way I am sure it will look great.

Behind the grill, it only takes a stone to hole the cooler, then your engine could injest the ally cooler bits as well as any dust, dirt or water.
Why risk destroying your engine.

sssute makes a good point. but it still looks wicked there.. is that one of those ebay radiators. how well did it fit? does it sit high. did you have to cut anything to make it sit right?

yeah its a ebay jobby its the one out of my white ute theres a few more pics of it in my photos, surprising the bonnet still clears it. i did think about puting it behind the grill but after doing this on the other ute i feel that it blocks the radiator way too much and it limits the airflow not to mention the radient heat from the rad is very high causing the cooler to become heated itself. so in short its definetly going to go down where it is its just how low is the question, but thanks for all the comments as they are valued answers

if you put it down that low, it will just be an interheater. Where does the air on the other side go??

I agree with the others. I put mine behind the grille, because I don't get on very well with police officers.

the panel behind it is slightly sloped rearwards (about 75degrees) and has approx 2inchs gap between the cooler and the panel.

as for cops the ville severly lacks them

 Re: progress today
id rather have no intercooler than have one there, or visible anywhere on the front.

but if it has to be intercooled. hide it behind the grille.

That's where I was thinking of putting an oil cooler once, but it would need a couple of layers of strong mesh if it was going there.
