adjustable lower control arms

bit heavier than i hoped for but otherwise awesome. my brother put these together for our rally car with a friend of his.
thread is welded to inner end to prevent loosing while driving |

Re: adjustable lower control arms In a comletely different application, I had a jam nut on one side of a turn buckle. I figured the turnbuckle wouldn't turn so I left the other side alone. The side with out the jam nut eventually loosend from the vibration and fell out. It chewed up the threads.
Again, it was a different application and the turnbuckle was aluminum but that is what came to mind when I saw this.

im not sure why it would need a locknut.
the threaded rod is welded to the inner part.
once the strut etc are bolted in it's not going to come loose...

Re: adjustable lower control arms Seriously 1200rallycar, you NEED to put a lock nut on the thread, it wiil not last, you do not want these things coming apart while your driving.
I seriously believe any scrutineer will make you put them on anyway, nobody wants to see anyone get hurt.
I can't see clearly from the photo, but it looks like the threaded rod is mig welded to the l.c.arm, if this is the case you've added another weak point to the set up, be very careful if you are going to use these.
