I was driving home from sydney and it was bucketing down, plus there was a crazy amount of lightning, nearly didn't need the headlights

ive always been interested how you catch a lightning strike on a still camera??

pepper to catch lightning you need a camera that either takes say 20 photos one after the other or you can leave the shutter open for an extented period

that storm hit Wollongong and the northern suburbs pretty hard last night at about 5:30, I was out on my balcony watching it and the lightening was amazing, it was all around me and I was in the corner, the lightening was every couple of seconds and one or two only a few hundred metres away. It also woke me up again at about 3am.

we just had another storm come threw and there is heaps of lightening over the sea now, Kiama hot hail...

Glad that my Datto has a double garage all to itself, screw the Corrola it can stay outside...

im just really learning to take lightining pics. the camera i use is your normal digital camera. Set it to manual, and set the shutter speed so that it has a long exposure. i generally do 8 seconds, but if its day time then this will be hard as the light affects it, So it captures everything that happens in the 8 seconds. And you can also have it so it takes 10 pics on 8 second intervals, saves you pushing the button. you will need a tripod. to keep camera steady. Its all flashing over the ocean at the moment, every few mins the whole sky lights up, but its a bit far away.
