Strange. Optional, huh? Then what covers the tire if you don't have this? What did they think you were going to hide/store underneath this cover?

The tonneau is made of vinyl and clips behind the front seats . It is mounted at the same level as the base of the side windows. With the rear seat folded it covers everything in the rear of the car from prying eyes. It is not the same as the vinyl covered plywood floor found in coupes.

Ah ha you have got to the back of your "new" workshop manual... When I got my US spec one I was surprised to see this accessory as I'd never seen or hard of it before. I spent over a year searching in the States before I found a new old stock one in Boston. I am seriously suffering from dattomania.
