Viljoenskroon GX Datsun 2 Velociti 2008/4/24 6:25 Tell a friend 1767 7 0.00 (0 votes)
I was suprised to see how many GX Datsuns are running around Viljoenskroon. I saw at lease 5 in the 2 hours I was there. |

Re: Viljoenskroon GX Datsun 2 A pedant's point I know, but there is no such thing as a "GX bonnet" The facelift bonnet was used on JDM facelift GL & GX models & there would have been far more GL models with it than GX cars. The jury is still out on its use on facelift DeLuxe & Standard models. It was not fitted to export models at all. In fact, there was no facelift update at all for export models & the first variant of the 1200 was kept in production for export right to the end of 1200 production in Japan. The facelift model, & the bonnet that was part of it, was for the domestic market only.
The South African 1200's are another story. These were actually manufactured in South Africa & for reasons of economy of scale, they kept them in production right through the years that the B210/120Y was sold in other markets. There were no South African produced B210/120Y.
Keeping the original bonnet was both in accord with Nissan's policy & with simple economics as there was nothing to be gained, 'profit wise' by spending the money on new dies for a new bonnet, particularly if it was to be used only on one low volume model.

Re: Viljoenskroon GX Datsun 2 seems like the South Africans did not go the GX bonnet option.
