Four wires:
1. Ground (earth)
2. IGN (hot)
3. rpm sensor
4. feedback wire
The last two are in a Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cable. I used an electric guitar cable since it is of that type.

Man I wish we got the Fords with the EDIS4 ignition here

I reckon every Datto in oz would have a setup like this...

The system I'm working on is a modified Microsquirt firing 2 twin outlet coilpacks, rather than using EDIS parts.

Looking good - I've always wanted to do this!

Aussie Fords probably do use EDIS, as part of the EEC controller. Do any have a 36-1 trigger wheel? UK escorts have the trigger wheel cast into the flywheel. Other UK models use small 36-1 wheels on the pulleys. You can even make one out of sheet metal and tinsnips, as long as you have a VR sensor. My sensor is from '87 Aerostar (pre-EDIS). Source EDIS4 module from US, $10 each used...

We only got EDIS on some V8's.

The 'processor' module is different to the 6cyl and 4 cyls.

The trigger wheel can be fabricated at work here so that's no worries.

Doesn't matter though, I'm trying something slightly different anyway.

Well if you got the money, MicroSquirt is a more flexible solution only it costs a lot more.

It drives real nice, smoother than before, but not more powerful. Throttle response feels quite different but then it was warmer today than before. I should have a good idea after a few days of driving to work. I think the timing is probably retarded still (I advanced it twenty degrees by sight). I can't think of a way to set the timing by sight and sound...

I've been examining the default spark curve mapping, compared to Stock it has more mechanical advance but less vacuum advance. The stock Datsun distributors don't seem to have hardly any mechanical advance in them.
