All four corners stick out 35mm. Can't wait to get flares. The tires are so sticky that they're tearing up the paint with all the rocks they pick up. It's okay though 'cause I'll paint it when I get flares, front lip spoiler and money

Technically, here in Japan the wheels aren't either... at least on a truck. They aren't stamped for use on 400-plate vehicles which are mostly trucks. But I definitely ain't gonna run the stockies!

who cares if it's legal - it just a waste to use those tyres on the street! I'm still kicking myself for wasting a set of Bridgestone 520 S tyres on everyday road use - god they were sticky...

I haven't been able to catch up with Steve to give him your details yet mate, it was a long weekend so everyone was pretty busy. but I'll stop in tonight

Those wheels look good - can't wait to see it with the flares

Since we have no circuit on this tiny island I have no other way to waste them. Now that I have them mounted up I'm not sure about those flares I think I want something a little smaller. My buddy here has just told me today he may make some so I'll let you know, so no worries!

Hy . I am missing something here, sorry, but, are you guys talking about the rubber compound? is it a racing tire? or is it the width you guys are talking about?

Yes they're semi-racing compound and aren't intended for street use. Plus they are too wide without flares and I could get a ticket but probably won't and I'll have flares soon enough. So we're kinda talking about both

Haven't looked much yet... I don't think they're as available as they used to be. I just steped up to the sunny from a 180SX with 255/45/17's on R33 GTR rolling stock so I don't know much about smaller sizes yet.

Hy . The reason I asked you is because in Japan there are lots of microcars(as they call them little cars) so probably there is some availability of smaller diameter tires. Japan has many small wheel tire cars, so perhaps there is something. If you know of anything like that, please let me know.

 Re: New Wheels 3
What are the sizes for your new wheels and tires??
Im off to Okinawa in August and have seen some cool sets on Autoworx magazine from garages there for cheap but im there for only 3 weeks. Ill be getting a JR pass for the rest of japan mainland to visit my friends in Kyoto, Osaka and Yokohama for one week unfortunately :( I just learnt that the Zama factory where many datsuns including my 1000 were built closed down in Yokohama Ill have to go to Hiroshima for the mazda museum though (shock horror!) cause I still love those brap brap rotors.
Unlike here in Oz people in jp stretch 185 and it makes them look like 205 on bigger rims. Since the tires are so good you can do that within certain limits of course eg my toyo 50s 165 look as wide as 195 on 6 inch wide rims (motobike tire look). Hey Im jumping up and down cause Im gettin flares tonight in white gelcoat from a mini place for only 122 bucks newly made for me and the next step is to find some big rims and rubber to fill them in cut the rear guard, i already rolled the fronts ages ago to clear the present setup as thouees have small clearances. Then suspension upgrade and lowering. Will use motorbike front coilovers from the rear of a harley. Then the running gear upgrade is next and maybe the Hiroshima museum might make the a15 into a door stop ..........
With my funds for the trip Im glad those rims in Jp are cheap. But if I see an Lz head for the L-series, Ill sell my babe for it.

Thanks for the offer but Im staying at some hotel which will be as cheap as a love hotel off peak. In Kyoto and Osaka off peak was 11pm-10am (when husbands have to be home as the cheating with the secretaries happens mainly during lumch) Itll be cheap for the 3 weeks and also at her parents house
Im thinking already of moving there permanently and if so the 1000 is coming with me with a big bore a15 with my old a10 serial numbers. ;}
Vegas would be a dream for a datto... little moisture and lots of heat to dry it up if it gets wet. Then again Id rather have a fairlady roadster convertible with a works u20 to rid the dandruf when it becomes a problem
