Re: my sedan ready for reg
Well at the time the paint $56 for 4ltrs was what I could afford, as at the time it was Xmas, I just had kid no.3 and was on holidays and my ute had just broken the diff! There were BIG plans to go a custom ve morphus with blue pearl but if you see pics of it 2 week after Rego it's so sad I had taken it away to lakes entrance and it drove so nice, it stopped quick, and it turned, but on the first time I drove it since we had been back a nice lady decided to pull out infront of me when I was in the middle of the round about! So this is now in heaven! I still have some of the bits that were in the car lol so this is my inspiration for the new build and my son will now be helping so the paint may end up some of the same as this as he will also b driving it :)

Yes it is looking good. The center 'D' emblem looks good on an all-black 1200 sedan. Also liking those 15" TRX rims.

This kinda stuff should not be incouraged. Im really glad there is another 1200 on the road even if it is in another country but it could atleast do a better job of representing other 1200's out there. Needs clear and more chrome/stainless trim

Lets see some pics of cheater_5's car so we can bag the crap out of it no matter how good or bad it looks. Like the owner said to me its just a tidy up for a roadworthy it has a color picked out and will be stripped down and painted once on the road. Some members act like Armchair politicians and should be banned.

this is the fellows pride and joy here. he has put up a pic to show us where he is at.
if its how he likes it, thats all that matters huh?it seems every car pic that doesent have stretched tyres and sitting on its guts is a peice of crap. give him a freakin break!
well done supafatto, getting a car youve just spent heaps of time and effort on regstered is always a good feeling.

Re: my sedan ready for reg
i like it,good work,it looks straight n tidy and the black is a good ground coat for a coat of pearl something over the top, but dont use no spraycan pearl, i did my bros commodore flat black then used PPG's Cosmic Turquoise thinned out over the top, then cleared it. Throw on a set of red deep dish stockies and whitewalls and be a greaser......

Re: my sedan ready for reg
LOL, theres a good reason I don't post as much on these forums these days.... Im sure I dont have to tell you.
I post most of it on my blog, so I dont have to look at trash. I never said my 1200 was the greatest out there. It needs lots of work, i would really like some constructive criticism about my own cars, although realistically if you're the one trying to point the build of it in the right direction im surely going to end up grouped together with the rest of the trash 1200's out there.
The only reason i criticize because i want to see it not end up average/limp/sh*t/possibly something that someone will look at and go "wow" one day. If you only say good work etc etc to all this lame sh*t, you end up with lame sh*t, a big reason this forum is so boring and dry

Jesus, take the criticism and stop being such a baby about it.

while i agree with cheater that constructive criticism should be encouraged i don't think it should be as blunt as cheater put it. just saying it looks like a $200 car is not constructive in anyway and is just criticism.

Re: my sedan ready for reg
should have said, "WHY would you matt black your 1200????? Are you not just following a bad trend that 1200's should never be grouped with? It looks cheap now, almost like you bout it for $200. If i were you and just wanted a cheap paint job i would have atleast gone for a can gloss black. You need to keep the chrome trim too, keep it atleast a little bit classey"

Any more encouragement than that and im lying

Re: my sedan ready for reg
well its not my cup of tea, but its not my car and its the owner who has to like it at the end of the day. at least the rims could have been left alloy?

I think its an option to do this if u have very little idea of how to do bodywork or paint, my cousin ruined a good white 4 door 1000 of mine like that, and now its sitting in the weather off the road so anyone serious about restoring it has more work to strip it. I told him at least it cant fade!

But with this 1200 sedan at least its on the road and thats the good thing, better than another one rusting out at the wreckers. Maybe some time in the future u might decide to repaint it in colour.

The comment button is there for a reason, who cares what people say, if you've got thick enough skin it shouldn't bother you...

For the effort it would of taken to matt black it you could of spent a little more effort and refinished in colour but thats your choice. But at least it is ready to drive on the road, probably 70% of people on this site don't have a registered datsun. Good on ya.

Re: my sedan ready for reg
lol it looks tuff in life

its not the final look.... so take a chill pill

it's painted with a spray gun properly.. the bodywork wasn't 100% but he primed it up to get the rwc as his ute died on him

then once it's rwc he can attack it again and start flaring gaurds out and stuff and then give it the final coat of the correct colour

i have to laugh to myself as it's quite straight and neat and has more mods than probably a few of the people bagging it's cars....

good work nick... and of course it's gonna look crazy with the final colour

Theres a differance between bagging someones ride and having a bit of good natured fun.

I think a few people need to take a Bex Powder and have a good ly down.
