Re: Shasta 2003 - Twistex Hey twistex, a question about the traction bars in the rear of your 1200, do they work fine as sway bars too?, because I know they are traction bars, anti twisting of the leaf springs, but , also have to help in not allowing the outer rear to sink in, although, contrary to a sway bar, does not hold on to the inside lifting body tendency,so , I think it is like a 1/2 sway bar effect, not as good, but better than nothing.I had traction bars on a car years ago, and I had them set up, like I had the front rubber bushing just touching the front of the springs, just really ready to get in action, and I can remember them helping in corners. Once I hit a rock in a failed drifting exersice and took them off(one got nailed), and the diference was notorious, it was as if I got rid of a sway bar. By keeping the rubber bushing close touching the spring, they made the car really nice to drive, no swaying, and helped in the spring rate too. Most people keep this bushing kind off away from the spring, probably allowing for some slack in action.I am thinking about getting those again for my current ride, because rear sway bars for leaf sprung Datsuns are not easy to find.Once I got an ADDCO sway bar, but it was way too wide, and it was not a bolt on, I could not hook the link brackets to the frame w/out welding(no welder around ),and also the links where at a angle of more than 45 degrees, not good, the bar eyes where too much too wide for the car, I returned it. Well, I just made this judgement(about the sway bar effect of the traction bars)... by brainstorming about the geometry and way the traction bar works, am I right? what can you say, being you the actual driver of a car with the traction bars on? Thanks. ________________________________
