Twistex,
Where did you get the flares? I'm looking for a set for a SCCA HP 1200 I'm building.
Thanks,
Bruce

well I have never driven it without traction bars. but since i have lowered it speed bumps have been getting the best of me.. with the 13x8's with a small tire it makes the traction bars like 2 inches from ground. the rubber is not touching leave spring but is close. i was going to get a sway bar for front / rear and like a strut brace. i will be dumping the traction bars and going to a ladder bar setup! if i do this i will definatly be bustin those weak wagon axels. it would then be time for a ford 9 inch! if u want me to take pics of my bar so u can see how there setup i will. i have another 1200 coupe with ka24 in it that im building up .. i may put them on that untill i do ladder on it as well. KA POWER

Cool, thank you for that offer, when ever you have a chance please post those pictures, or send them to me in by E/ mail, which ever you prefer.
Ford nine, that will be a tough set up, excelent, your 1200 is sure becoming a super 1200. And for the closeness of the bars to the floor, have you thought about decambering and eye reversal of the leaf springs? that route will keep the bottom of the spring plates higher.
Excelent ride.

well actually i didnlt do that bad considering that it was first time i ever autocrossed i got 46 and 47 and fastest time on that track was 41 .. everyone averaged 46 47 mostly under 50 sec.. so yeh. and i have a few 1200s. btw this has no sway bars no strut bars nothing .. just 510 struts and wagon rear end! for more pics go to http://510.streetracing.org ! they have shasta pics also

Hey twistex, a question about the traction bars in the rear of your 1200, do they work fine as sway bars too?, because I know they are traction bars, anti twisting of the leaf springs, but , also have to help in not allowing the outer rear to sink in, although, contrary to a sway bar, does not hold on to the inside lifting body tendency,so , I think it is like a 1/2 sway bar effect, not as good, but better than nothing.I had traction bars on a car years ago, and I had them set up, like I had the front rubber bushing just touching the front of the springs, just really ready to get in action, and I can remember them helping in corners. Once I hit a rock in a failed drifting exersice and took them off(one got nailed), and the diference was notorious, it was as if I got rid of a sway bar. By keeping the rubber bushing close touching the spring, they made the car really nice to drive, no swaying, and helped in the spring rate too. Most people keep this bushing kind off away from the spring, probably allowing for some slack in action.I am thinking about getting those again for my current ride, because rear sway bars for leaf sprung Datsuns are not easy to find.Once I got an ADDCO sway bar, but it was way too wide, and it was not a bolt on, I could not hook the link brackets to the frame w/out welding(no welder around ),and also the links where at a angle of more than 45 degrees, not good, the bar eyes where too much too wide for the car, I returned it. Well, I just made this judgement(about the sway bar effect of the traction bars)... by brainstorming about the geometry and way the traction bar works, am I right? what can you say, being you the actual driver of a car with the traction bars on?
Thanks.

Yo, he has welded differential gears, so it doesn't corner sharp too well, chirped the tires a lot. Went right outside the cones in the hairpin. But most of the cars hit the cones ...

Car sounded real good. What I like about this car is it is about "go", and doesn't worry about show. Granted, it is more setup for straight line acceleration.
